I'd say his chances just went up. Given how much harder his draw was here, and the fact that he was just beginning to get his spikes in the grass, defending at the USO shouldn't look nearly as improbable.
I think so too. He’s so much more experienced now, he’s won another slam, was unfortunate in Paris, he’s still world number 1. He’s going to be that player that all the other top players will hope is taken care of by somebody else…

I think he's pulling your chain. Or poking at you. Don't fall for it. I thought Switzerland was a tax haven, anyway. Don't the French players tax shelter there? Or is it just that it's so much higher in France?

Anyway...anyone who says "the LeBrons of this world...." Everyone knows there's only one LeBron. :lulz1:
I guess he might have been. I think income tax is around 40% there. But it's the individual Canton's that can get you. But it's no worse than living in California or New York. Probably much better. And Roger has been associated with Credit Suisse (gone now) for over a decade. Smart private bankers there. I rather think his money has grown substantially :)

I just finished watching that marathon game on the replay. That Carlitos FH is a cannon. Anyone who thinks his game resembles Nadal more than the other Big 3 needs to put that crack pipe down. He' is offense and aggression first (sometimes to his own detriment) w/ some defense mixed in.

I mean I doubt he ever reveals it even in retirement. If any of the ingredients are questionable, he would have that as the ending talk piece to his career. I doubt he would get this far in the GOAT race to ruin it.
Certainly not if he wants to market it, which I suspect he does, or hasn't he even said so? I don't see how the ingredients are "questionable," else he'd get caught in testing. I'd guess it's just some mix of regular electrolyte stuff and some Pepe Imaz herbs/urine. Maybe with a magnet stirred in. "Belief" seems to be the key ingredient, like that slice of bread. Now, on the other hand, I want to know about that bottle he huffs into.

Apart from @don_fabio the Djokolytes have scattered once again, as they do when there’s actual tennis to discuss, as opposed to only singing when their guy is winning.

When he loses they could sing about his opponent. It would be nice to hear that song instead of the usual sound of silence, or gloating..

I'd love to see Tiafoe win the USO, but...there are half a dozen guys at least that I think have better odds, including probably his countryman Taylor Fritz.
Tiafoe is far down the pile of contenders. He’s not even really a contender. We’ve seen no indications that he can win a slam. I’d say there’s more than half a dozen have better odds than Tiafoe. All 4 semifinalists here, for a start..

How about Frances winning a HC tune up event and then defending his USO SF points before we start talking about winning the whole thing.

I think you're wrong. For a start income tax rates in Switzerland are not materially higher than in the US. Obviously Canton rates vary but nevertheless. Even after all that based, on his equity stakes, I rather suspect he's doing ok. Folks always seem to forget about the wonders of compounding. The man has been earning $60 - 100m on an annual basis for at least 15 years. It always amuses me when people think it's just additive. Particularly in the land of private banking :)
Sorry, your not the only finance person around here. Would have thought you would have gotten the Swiss tax rate joke without a smiley. Oh well.

He may have grossed a billion dollars in revenues, he’s not worth a billion dollars. *gross/net* not too difficult to grasp they are 2 different terms.

I think Mike actually posted earlier about Charlie's win.

I am looking for my good friend Fiero. He has been complaining for years about youngsters who lack guts, and he got his wish today.

I'm here! In one of those "dark holes" where the server is dragging! I'm getting errors & "ooops!" Happens once a year I guess! I'm not hurting! From that FO last month, everything's gravy; weeks @ #1, an 8th YE #1, & whatever event or $$ he gets to get a little closer to Connors' 109 ATP wins! I'm not greedy! Djokovic has already served his purpose! He's broken down that pedestal Fedal used to reside on! If he grabs one more USO, that will wrap up the GOAT race! :astonished-face: :face-with-head-bandage::angry-face::yawningface:

never occurred to me that I would be the only person with a finance background. The same would apply to all of the other candidates. But more to the point, Roger's equity stake in the shoe company is a variant that differs to most outside of Jordan. Net worth isn't just about accumulated cash earned. Not sure why this needs to be pointed out. And not even sure why I'm bothering with a response. I guess I'm still hyped by the great victory today :)
