Who knows, maybe Andy has an ATP 250 or two left in him. His last was Antwerp in late 2019, and before that one in 2017, at the tail end of his prime.

I'm reminded of when Juan Carlos Ferrero had a flurry of ATP 250s at the tail end of his career. He won five in 2009-11, after not winning any titles since 2003. Of course he was also about five years younger than Andy when he won his last.

Lleyton Hewitt, too, had a few "last spurts." He was pretty much done as an elite player by 2006 when he slipped out of the top 10 for good, won a few more low level titles through 2010, then none in 2011-13 before winning two in 2014.

I think one of the main reasons Andy is playing a challenger tournaments, is he is wanting to play RG this year and he wants to be seeded.Andy said this would probably be his last chance to play at RG this year

Elo update. Alcaraz's peak Elo continues to rise, from 2258 before Madrid to 2282 now. He also went from about #50 ever to into the top 40. Meaning, over the last week plus he passed about a dozen players in peak Elo.

For context, at 2282 he's one point ahead of Gustavo Kuerten's peak Elo of 2281. If he continues his strong play, he's going to surpass the exclusive 2300 level, becoming the 31st player to do so.

I know some aren't crazy about Elo, but it is another angle on what we're seeing in real-time: A future all-time great rising towards whatever his peak level may eventually be.

Congratulations to Carlos Alcaraz who has won the Laureus Award for "Breakthrough Athlete of the Year 2023"
The 20 year old announced himself to the tennis world in stunning fashion in 2022, winning his first GS at the USO and becoming the youngest world no 1, APT rankings history.

The new owner of Western and Southern Open is planning a $400 million tennis complex in Charlotte, N.C. as a permanent home for the long time Cincinnati tournament. Beemok Sports and Entertainment plans to build a $400 million complex in the River District in west Charlotte. It's part of a deal that would relocate the Western and Southern Open professional tennis tournament there from, Cincinnati. The city of Charlotte and Meckelburg County are considering a request for $132 million to help build the complex.

That's a shame. Cincinnati is almost located in the Mid Section of the US which makes it a short drive for tennis enthusiasts who a looking for a tournament that is accessible. What a loss for Mid Westerners.. SMH2

Yes a lot of fans are sharing your sentiment, it will be a loss for Mid Westerners, if the new complex goes ahead
