Fils just got outplayed in those first 3 sets. It's a lesson for him. He's got to start better and keep his emotions in check.
Agree, some of his matches he started slowly, hopefully he will learn from this going forward in his career, has a great game and I really enjoy watching him play

Now Art drops his serve, gets a point penalty for racquet abuse and pretty much has given this match away.

Serbia has a nice future in team events with so many good players following Novak! It's a shame he blew it w/ 3 MP's vs Sinner in the SF! There was a lame Aussie team waiting in the final! Serbia would have had their 2nd DC after they won it in 2010! :face-with-head-bandage: :astonished-face: :fearful-face:

Meanwhile I will keep an 'eye' on Medjedovic in 2024, he has a really good serve, heavy powerful baseline game and a decent BH drop shot. I thought after not being able to convert 2MPs he might have gone away, mentally he did not and won in 5 sets.

Practicing with Rafa will help his game
Arthur Fils is now off to Kuwait where Rafa Nadal is waiting for him:)
The old woman interviewed him and he responded very excited. Training session with Rafa is just below the attention Travis Kelce is getting for being the new beard for Taylor Swift. Jajaja

Well done to Medjedovic undefeated this week!
A fruitful week for the Medjed (it translates to The Bear on serbian and I find that word sound funny because we say it slightly different). Medvedev is also a bear, but he is a Meddy bear. There's more bears on a tour now than we have in my city's zoo.

I'm surprised a serbian won this tournament without a loss and as @Moxie said, Fils was a man to put the money on in this final.

So many bears!

I have read that Novak is mentoring Medjedovic. I didn't watch a lot of the tennis this week, but the final was good! The only ones I knew before this week were Fils, Van Acche and Nardi (the Italian only a little.) Shelbayh, the Jordanian wildcard acquitted himself well. Not so much the American.

I'm sorry that this final featured racquet smashing from both. I guess the fashion for it as a show of passion overrides gentlemanliness and control on court.

Well I thought it would be a close final, I have been impressed with the 'Bear' all tournament,
Fils is a player I love to watch though I have to agree with Keli at times in this tournament and he started off too slow, the Bear was too strong for him in the first couple of sets and I will keep my eye on him in 2024.

Congrats to the Bear! Such a clean ball striker. Hamad had set points in the first set and match points in the fourth. Gets it done in five. He made Fils look ridiculous at times. Can’t wait to see what he brings in 2024. Novak wins Turin. Hamad wins next gen. Pretty cool.

I don't see how Charlie would rank below Jannik and Meddi when he won a slam this year and they didn't.
Just look at Murray's late 2016 ATP 250/500 vulturing that got him world number 1 over Novak. It just looked silly but that's how the points system goes.

We've talked about this before, but Andy earned that, and was helped by Novak going AWOL. Andy won at key points - including beating Novak in the Tour Finals final. Hard to call that "vulturing." Oh, he also didn't win any 250s that year. After the USO, he won two ATP 1000s, two 500s, and the Tour Finals.

Don't forget about Novak choking away the 2016 US Open final. He wins that match, the Year End #1 would have been locked.
