Yup, ShitshisPants clearly did this year. Really made the other side weak.
It was already weak, and Tsitsipas, besides the MC win has not especially impressed this year. We could debate A/B/C games forever, though most players play to the level across the net, and all fluctuate within a match. However, Rafa DID take out Novak, who had no excuse for not playing better, except that realistically Nadal is better on clay than he is. And he beat an inspired FAA in 5. He played some very great tennis to win the title, and fully deserved it. That the final was a bit of a dud is not that surprising. The best matches happened before the final, and understandably.

Hopefully Wimbledon draw will be more balanced, because RG draw this year was a complete joke

Unfortunately, with the ban rule, major injury to Zverev and Nadal potentially missing Wimbledon, the draw might be imbalance.

Next year RG will be very interesting with Nadal 37 and hopefully a healed up Zverev who impressed this year and Alcaraz.
Even as a fan, I keep thinking it can't go on like this. 14 Roland Garros titles is absurd and gaudy. Look at your own post...you hope someone can still beat him at the French next year. It all ends sometime, but I wouldn't put my bet on Zverev. Weak head. I think he's going to get passed by the younger gen. Alcaraz is the rising star, even though his best is HC. Others will come up to trouble, and don't forget Novak. He ain't done yet. But Rafa is still the King of Roland Garros, and everyone else just shakes in fear. Allow me that prideful comment on this day.

Since he turned 30 years old, here are some amazing stats at Slams (2016 US Open to 2022 Roland Garros):

105-11 (90.5%) = Number one in that span
8 titles = tied with Djokovic for most
10 finals
14 Semifinals
17 Quarterfinals
18 4th round appearances

Basically, he has reach the 4th round of each Slam he has entered since turning 30 years old. Just excellent consistency from him.

Plus, I think he still has the overall best win pct. at Slams, when entered, at least of the big 3?

Yes, but it is very close.

Nadal is at 88.1% and Djokovic is at 87.4%
Across the number of slams they have played, that number looks deceptively close. It's bigger than you think. Think of it this way. Look at the percentage difference to 100%. Given how close they both are, and the # of Majors they've both played, it's a more significant difference.

Of course, but you can not fault Djokovic (or Federer) for playing more Slam tournaments than Nadal.

The best analogy will probably free-throw attempt/free-throw percentage or three point attempt/three-point percentage.

No one faults them for playing when they could, but Rafa has played fewer, and won more when he did. I don't know where you're going with that basketball analogy. Who's at the free-throw line, and who is hitting the 3-pointers?

Federer fans are a rare sighting amongst these woods these days,

They once roamed the Wilds like endless herds of Buffalo…..
There was a time when this was considered a "Federer board." I understand why it's not fun for them right now, as he's not playing. Appreciate that @Front242 is always willing to come back for a gab and a spar. (Even though I torture him...don't let it bother you, Front. You know I love you!) The mystery is where are the Djokovic people? Aside from @don_fabio, and maybe wherever Fiero fits, it seems to me we are in the Nadovic Wars, and where are they? I don't love being in an echo chamber. Where is the fight?

The reason I chose FT or 3PT as an analogy because a good shooter can shot a higher percentage at free-throw line or three point line than a great shooter because the good shooter took less shot attempts than the great shooter.

Sorry, if the basketball analogy is not good analogy.

I think a better analogy will be break point conversion vs. break point attempts.

All in all, I get what you are saying about Nadal won more than Djokovic in fewer attempts. But the win percentage is close due to Djokovic creating more opportunities for himself.
