It's only political for the people who disagree with it. There's a large divide of people still not vaxxed in this country. It's the rules our country has established for it's citizens. I don't necessarily agree with it, but for people who want to visit, that's what's required to get in.

Look Novak has to understand the different rules of each country and to respect it, it was his decision not to get vaccinated, he also said he will not get vaccinated in the future.

Not to turn this into the vaccination thread, but i completely agree that it's only political if you disagree. You are correct that it's different for Sandgren in terms of getting into the country, but it may not be different for playing at the Open. Their website says this:

That's probably correct. The U.S. has different rules for foreign visitors than for their own citizens. Right now all foreign passport holders must be vaxx to get in here unless you are a child or have a med exemption

What happens if someone who is an unvaccinated American travels to say Europe are they allowed back into the US when they arrive back? Or is it complicated?

As US citizens we are always allowed to come home no matter where we've been even unvaxx. Visiting certain countries may require you to be held, interviewed, detained, searched, tested, etc by CBP. As long as you are not wanted by any law enforcement officials, you'll eventually be allowed entry.
