For Nadal fans - I found a couple of videos' i think you'll like.

The young media kid asks better thought provoking questions than some of the senior members of the media from around the world. Jajaja. Remember when that clown asked him about his relationship with Maria a few weeks back. I never seen Rafa use profanity but it was necessary.

Very few can turn the crowd's negative energy into something they can channel and use in a match. Novak in a sense has done that throughout his career, especially when playing Federer. Jimbo and MacEnroe, and going waay back Illie Nastase.

Look, I get that Medvedev isn't a choir boy, but at the same time even as a Rafa fan the crowd was positively brutal on Daniil. It saddened me when he said rather bitterly in the presser he wasn't looking forward to playing before crowds in different venues, something he dreamed about as a kid.

True story, when I had to leave the room during the match, I could tell if Rafa won or lost a point before I heard the commentary because you could hear the loud cheering of the crowd or the gasps/groans....

Quite frankly Medvedev saying he dosent want to play in different tournaments around the world after the way the crowds reacted to him at the AO was Medvedev just blowing off 'hot air' and a very emotional one at that. The crowd was always going to be pro Rafa, because of the 'history at stake' and the fact Rafa dosent lose his cool and smash rackets etc.Medvedev to me was also feeling the pressure in this tournament he also had a lot on the line.I feel players waste too much emotional energy blowing up at the crowd or at the umpire, the result they lose concentration, focus etc.Shapo was also another example he was in a good position at one stage against Rafa when he lost it mentally, calling the umpire 'corrupt' and having a go at Rafa, who he thinks gets away with too much.Quite frankly he was a total brat and yes it did cost him in the end.So instead of blaming the crowd, their task at hand is to shut the crowd out and concentrate on the match.Rafa handed Medvedev a lesson in the final going forward, when you are in a good position in a match leading 2 sets to love, concentration and focus is the key, blaming others ( feeling the crowd is against you and being abusive to umpires) ,is not a key for winning.

Almost 1 million watched Rafa Nadal's winning moment live on Eurosport yesterday afternoon. I can't remember such high numbers for ES! It was actually the most watched programme across ALL British TV channels at 2pm yesterday.
The BBC highlights also peaked at 1.5 million!

Had the new Missus sleeping on the side. I was shaking some times with nerves, swearing and fist-pumps net?
Fist pumps beneath the blanket while the missus is snoring beside you is lottery. It might end up harmless with the blanket in the air dangling from the light bulb and the missus shivering and wondering WTF…but a few times I did this I ended up getting a fist pump from the missus for nearly knocking her into an even deeper sleep :lol6:

Mate, Well said. Getting back to your first sentence, I COULDN'T AGREE WITH YOU MORE...

But, it wasn't only Medvedev but also Danielle COLLINS, in particular the second set, where she was on the verge of winning it , trying to hold serve, the crowds was rude to her also. I found myself feeling sad and sorry for both finalists in various moments of the finals. It wasn't a true Tennis crowd that we've seen or been used to. This year was one of the worst, unruly crowd behaviour and i've seen/heard (on television admittedly) better respect to the rules and spirit of the game, from foreign, partisan davis cup fans. Let's hope the crowds are better behaved in 2023 because TBH if THIS HAPPENS AGAIN? Then Australia DESERVES to loose the Grand Slam.
It was Djokovic’s lawyers who used the threat that the slam could be taken away from Australia if they failed to do the wrong thing, and let Novak enter. I think it was typical of how thin the ground was beneath him, that his lawyers resorted to this. Another of his lawyers apparently threatened the judge also, by saying “I’ll tell your ma on you if you don’t let Novak play.”

But, the Australian Open crowd didn’t do the tournament any favours, just from the entertainment perspective. The players were sporting but the crowd were jerks. But they still didn’t reach the levels plummeted by several New York crowds during their open. Remember the animals in the stands during the final between Serena and Naomi? In that match, Serena typically poured logs onto the flames, and even she seems like she regretted It, but still. The Australian crowd weren’t that awful.

It’s a tough balance. The US Open crowd is often the best crowd too. Just, it spills over into craziness sometimes. Lawlessness and brutality. It’s hard to get the balance right. I love the sound of the Wimbledon crowd, as in, we hear the hollow tock…tock of the shots, the grunts and frenetic activity of the players - but very little from the crowd. It’s a very beautiful tennis sound…

Rafa is great, nobody can take away from him that he’s a great example for kids, and you’re right, the kid was better at that than stupid journos droning on about 21…

OK but there have also been rumours that Qatar may pinch the GS - https://www.cityam.com/australian-o...te-players-reported-opposition-to-quarantine/

But that’s last year? The history of the slams has shown there to be 4, including Australia. If they dump Australia - and I don’t see any reason why they should - they tear the fabric of the sport, making it unrepairable…
Thanks. But the rumours have been around for ten years. Mate, i can see it going, if we get another tournament in 2023 with unruly crowds and protestors disruptions. It's the worst i've seen/heard in 42 years i been following tennis.

Hopefully not, brother. it’s true though, that somehow this year the crowd were more boisterous. How many fans were ejected? Still, once there was no violence or riots, I don’t think it’s a huge problem. They’ll definitely have to do better next year…

This stuff provided media outlets click-bait during an already legendary tournament, but none of it will be realized. There’s far too much history and tradition within this historic and traditional sport for a major to be taken away from Australia.

I don’t think Australia would lose its status as a slam. It does however have a lot of egg on the face with Djokovic, the crowd behavior, and players unhappy with officials as an undercurrent despite the happy narrative with the winners. They are going to get Djokovic part 2 next year with the question of how long the ban is.

Well it will not be up to TA regarding the 3 year ban of Novak,he will have to apply to the government for a new visa and give plausible reason why the ban should be lifted.
