Would be nice to get a cupcake draw for Rafa and let the number one player in the world prove to the ATP that he feels invincible. (just put CAG in his qtr)

Nadal's had enough cupcake draws with inferior competition in finals; esp. on clay over the years! You can count on one hand how many easy finals Nole's gotten in Majors like Del Po at '18 USO, Anderson @ '18 Wimbledon, & Tsonga for his 1st AO in '08 after defeating Federer earlier! ;)

Meddie out in straights to Reeshard. He was completely at sea for a set and a half and then knocked off some significant rust in the 2nd set, but too little too late as Richie takes a close TB.
It's not a bad field, but he could have had an easier first match out than Gasquet, as a seasoned vet.

Are you kidding us all? Poor Gasquet has one foot out the ATP Tour door! How much easier could it get for Med? That's hilarious! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :astonished-face::face-with-tears-of-joy::facepalm:
You really just think everyone is terrible. Gasquet has been a credible clay courter, and clay is not Medvedev's forte. A younger or lesser player might have been intimidated. Being an old geezer, you should appreciate the power of experience.

its not so easy returning from a hernia repair injury in your mid to lower core. It may takes a while before Daniil can trust his body.

I get that. And I expect that's why he's taking on some clay work while he can. Who knows what grass will bring, since he's Russian.

How much were you guys commiserating w/ Novak upon 2 or 3 returns after injury or en oui trying to get back into form? It was non-existent! :angry-face:
Which returns from injury are we talking about? He's not so often injured.

Are you fk'n kidding? I can't help you! The delusional memories of some are just too frustrating w/ a few here! It's truly more gaslighting going on! ;-(
That's a cop out. You don't have an answer if you can't provide one. Let me help you. The only Major that Novak has missed until his unforced error at Oz this year was USO 2017. He shut down his year after W, and had surgery in early 2018. What others are you talking about, in terms of 2 or 3? You can answer the question without claiming "gaslighting." (Your new favorite word.)

No, you didn't offer me the other two or three. Novak's walkabouts have been more mental than physical. And he really hasn't had that many. He's way more full of fake illness or injury than real ones. I challenge you to elucidate beyond what I did.

Rafa practicing in the Philippe Chatrier

Thanks Carol, from what I am reading from other tennis journalist's who were also present watching Rafa in his first practice session, he looked much better, than he did in Rome against Shapo, moving freely, also Uncle Toni made a suprise visit to Rafa's first practice.Rafa was hitting with Jaume Munar.
Also one of the Clown Princes aka Tsitsipas came up to Rafa after his session was over :)
