I don't know that he's giving them away. He was really outplayed by his countrymen & hair dude. The only one I felt like he was really involved was the first set against Karen.I suspect Djoke is giving away first sets so that he gets time on court building strength and mental toughness. He is nowhere physically fit enough at the moment to do well at FO.
I agree with this. If that was about getting more time on court, the strategy failed, and he is out of gas. I thought he looked terrific against Khachanov, though. Anyway, Clarey mentioned all of the Covid he's had. Commentators wondering if he's put in the work when he wasn't able to play competitive tennis. It's still surprising to see. As they said, today was like v. Davidovich Fokina in MC: put in all the effort to win the 2nd, then with nothing for the 3rd.I don't know that he's giving them away. I would say no. I saw earlier in the week he was breathing heavily between points and really feeding off the crowd for adrenaline. He is not conditioned to play the BO3 right now let alone the BO5. And to your point we don't know what kind of affect Covid has on him. I know some people from work who are still battling lingering affects and some caught the original strain in 2020.I agree with this. Another factor too: He will be 35 years old in a couple of weeks. Even though he is extremely fit, being 35 years old will take its toll on his body at some point.I would say no. Well that was his goal for RG Top 8 seedWith this win, Alcaraz is guaranteed to have a Top 8 seed at RG, both Medvedev and Matteo are more than likely will not play RG due to injuries.
I am still waiting on confirmation that Rome tournament is also banning Russian and Belarusian players this year as well.By the way, both the ATP and WTA will meet next week at Madrid to discuss the possibilities of withdrawing points at Wimbledon due to the decision of banning Russian and Belarusian players.
If they do decide to withdraw the points, I wonder how the players will react to the potential decision.

Just like how Wimbledon decided to ban Russian and Belarusian players from playing Wimbledon. Now that would be BS and tyrannical!
