I didn't see much of the match today, but Tsitsipas (and Zverev) should be looking over their shoulders instead of being so convinced that they are part of the next big 3, or whatever. I believe Meddie is in.Everything about Felix is impressive. The lad has a cool temper, and a solid technique. Delighted he beat Hissyfits today
He has the forehand and serve to do well on Clay. Also, Clay will minimize his return of serve game weakness just like Tsitsipas. The real question will be is can he improve his point construction on the surface?Toni Nadal will be teaming up with FAA for the clay season,so it will be interesting to see how FAA goes on the clay
No..not on the clay.his service may not be as effective..it's too many clay court specialists to begin to even ponder what Felix could do on the dirt. Remember Thiem will be back soon plus Toni's what his name nephew and the unvaccinated One .He has the forehand and serve to do well on Clay. I agree Felix needs point construction on clay, who better to teach him than Toni Nadal.People don’t realize that Felix’s first two finals were at Clay. He can play on that surface, he just needs to improve his Clay game.
Also, while you need to have awesome point construction on Clay, you also need to have an aggressive mindset on Clay. Andy Murray learned this in 2015. He realized that he needed to be aggressive combining with discipline point construction in order to do well on Clay.
Toni Nadal will definitely teach him how to construct a point on Clay better.
I have question marks regarding Thiem....his hand/wrist is still not 100%. he withdrew from some smaller clay tournaments...he still hopes to come back at IW.No..not on the clay.his service may not be as effective..it's too many clay court specialists to begin to even ponder what Felix could do on the dirt. Absolutely correct, clay is about a methodical point construction..very true..Felix has the talent but I think he needs more matches but we shall see. Sampras once made it to the semis of RG but I don't know if he truly believed he could do it. Toni will continue to teach his young pupil.I agree Felix needs point construction on clay, who better to teach him than Toni Nadal.
Thiem's wrist and conditioning may not be where he needs it to be. No need in rushing if he isn't 100 percentI have question marks regarding Thiem....his hand/wrist is still not 100%. he withdrew from some smaller clay tournaments...he still hopes to come back at IW.
Thiem opted out of wrist surgery, maybe in hindsight he should have had it....it still isn't 100%....lets see if he returns to IW.Thiem's wrist and conditioning may not be where he needs it to be. No need in rushing if he isn't 100 percent
I wonder if he thought about the Delpo wrist surgery and maybe that’s why he didn’t have a surgery.Thiem opted out of wrist surgery, maybe in hindsight he should have had it....it still isn't 100%....lets see if he returns to IW.
Maybe, but it might not have been the same issue that Delpo had in his wrist.Anything to do with the wrist is always tricky, even with surgery, and times it does not help the wrist at all.Tennis players need good wrist's that is where the power comes from initially through the wrist.I wonder if he thought about the Delpo wrist surgery and maybe that’s why he didn’t have a surgery.
It may not be the same issue, with his right wrist, as JMDP's first one was with the right wrist, as well, but delPo did try to rehab for a long time without surgery, but finally had to have it, which kept him out even longer. I certainly hope that Thiem doesn't have the bad luck that Juan Martín had with wrist(s). Look forward to seeing him back at IW.Maybe, but it might not have been the same issue that Delpo had in his wrist.Anything to do with the wrist is always tricky, even with surgery, and times it does not help the wrist at all.Tennis players need good wrist's that is where the power comes from initially through the wrist.
