The US Open is going to be a challenge entering with so many narratives: a chance to break the three way tie, a chance at a Calendar Slam, and coming back a year after being disqualified from the tournament. That’s a lot to have going on in your head.

Agree, with the worst one being disqualified. That brings a same unpleasant feeling back and plays with your head.

It would be cool though for Novak and Rafa to meet in a final and fight for glory once again.

Most probably the finals will pit Novak against another Next genner, perhaps Shapo (or may be Sasha or Rublev), different from the three finalists we had so far in this year.

Congrats to Novak fans.

I think Laureus 2022 is in his hands, will tie Fed for Laureus and probably ATP No.1 at end of the year. The next mission is to prevent Rafa to win USO, not so much to get it, he will pass 20 anyway. Had the number 23 in my head. Also would say the intensity at RG was much higher than this one.

He's way ahead of scheduled and Fedal! He got there earlier in his career! I don't know what's supposed to stop him right now but injury! :dance2:
Don't forget Nadal. He took a break to work on his tennis, not to rest. He might come back improved and feeling dangerous.

I think someone else will take care of that.

But, he was successful putting it behind him, I think.
True, but on other courts. When he comes back there, don't know, call it a bad omen or whatever.
He was just never succesful there as much as he should.

I agree with the second statement.

But, the disqualification won't bother him. It is not like the case of Serena, where something or other seems to happen every year at USO (and invariably due to her own fault).

The final differential as follows:

Novak +10 ( 31W - 21UFE)

Matteo +9 (57W - 48UFE)

With both players having positive differentials, it was a very ood match (can anyone name a WTA GS final where both players had a positive differential) though not a great match.

I'd have Medvedev well up the top as a potential winner for the USO. He's been waiting all year for this.
Daniil will not be able to stop Novak, Rafa or Thiem at the USO...his head is still screwed up..IMO

His return is still too big of a weapon. Unreal amount of serves get returned right at opponents feet.
True that. Was disppointed Karatsev fell off a cliff since beating Novak at Belgrade cos he's the only other guy on tour right now who, back then at least, was returning consistently deep like that to the opponent's feet at the back of the baseline.

Novak lost just two sets this Wimbledon. The first set of first match and last match.
Are you implying that this SW19 should have an asterisk because Novak didn't have to face a top five player to win this title? Are you implying this was a glorified MS level tournament because Rafa and Thiem wasn't participating and it was obvious that Stefano's mind was mentally exhausted from RG?
