So the young guns are starting to make these later parts of tournaments more frequently, there may be hope yet for this younger generation.

Talking of HH, what happened to the other polish player, drop shot king JJ. Did he retire officially?

Alas. Hard not to think that this is the end, possibly his last Wimbledon...or maybe, at most, we get a swan song. All good things must end, of course.

Differential: Fed, +3 vs. HH +24.

Fed had 65% first serves in also. It is not the case that Fed had a bad day.

It is just that he was thoroughly outplayed.

Unfortunately, this will be the norm from now on against players who have both game and belief.

It’s more that they’ve stumbled into success because the Big Three are getting older.

Meaning, the young guns have improved--and are improving--but the old guys are getting older.

I thought people were insane thinking he could step in after a yr. of non-play & win as if nothing had happened; p@ndemic be damned! STUPID!

It was a pipedream, of course, but he's Roger and its Wimbledon, and we all remember what he did in 2017. I didn't expect him to win, but there was that tiny sliver of hope.

The silver lining for us Fedfans is that we don't have to watch Novak clobber him.

Nobody was delusional thinking that Fed would win Wimbledon. That kind of thing happens only in WTA (remember Kim Clijsters came back after child birth without even having a rank # attched to her name just five weeks before USO and managed to win it).

And Serena won the AO while pregnant!

It’s always going to be an uphill battle for Federer because he has to get the match under his control quickly or lose. He is always going to end up eventually with that person who will take the match out from under him just like Serena is currently experiencing. I don’t think he can manage a 5 set match anymore.

Ugly. No wonder even other Rafa fans roll their eyes at you.

You are such a crybaby. You and Fedovic fans attack and disrespect Nadal over and over and then you criticize me or other Nadal fans for small things. You’re so transparent and deserve the biggest eyeroll in the universe.

It's just delusional to keep acting as if Roger can turn this around anytime soon! In his press conference he'll continue to string his fans along by saying he'll "talk it over with his team, blah, blah, blah!" He was deflated, but we all know he feels he'll have something to prove! This'll happen again if he goes to Tokyo or US Open! The game moves too fast for him!
