He still looks more like Ewan McGregor aka Obi Wan Kenobi to me.

I don't know how posters on here feel about Benoit Paire, but I had the opportunity to watch him defeat Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 7-5 at the 250 event in Sofia. What I found most surprising, Paire actually was engaged, held his nerve and seemed to actually care if he won. Granted Fokina was, to be honest, having a rough Monday but in the end Paire managed to hold on for the victory. I just don't know what to expect with Paire, but between the double faults he really showed some great feel and touch at the net.
I appreciate this report on Paire, so thanks for that. I recounted not long ago what Rublev, I think it was, had to say about him, and he thinks he's a great guy. Just complicated. I'm willing to revise my opinion of him, which has been quite negative. Since I was ever a huge Safin fan, I ought to be willing to deal with complicated-but-talented players. Thanks for the report from the front, @Ellentonboy.

I am just reporting from I observe today in person. FAA has both the physical tools and game to win a slam (we all know that, of course!). It’s a just a matter of mental fortitude from him! But watching him practice live, he can be a physical force in the future, if he stays healthy and if his mind is right! His forehand is absolute BIG, like it can blow you away off the court! His serve is similar but has more variety now compared to 2019/2020. Also, he has the ideal tennis height (6”3/6”4), at the same token, he is not “bulky,” lanky (thin) or etc…his physique is the ideal tennis body (unless of course you are like Djokovic).

Speaking of rocket forehand: watching Andrey Rublev’s forehand live is magnificent to watch! I feel for Nakashima because he got so overwhelmed by Rublev’s forehand! Btw, Rublev is lanky like Medvedev but shorter of course.

I do agree that I don’t think Rublev will win a slam. I didn’t felt the “it” factor from him compared to FAA after watching them live today. But I could be wrong though!

I agree FAA is what they say on ESPN on the Come Up and he is still growing into his body. Although he hasn't won a ATP tournament yet, 8 ATP finals appearances is still pretty awesome for a player so young. It's just a matter of time.. Rublev just needs a few weapons because his tennis game is pure. The NEXT Gen is here and the clock and Father Time is ticking on the big 3..I am being respectful Roger is Done winning majors.IMO

What the hell is up with Shapovalov? Makes it to the SF of Wimbledon only to play like trash in his follow up tournaments. He definitely needs to get it together a man with his weapons shouldn’t be struggling the way he does. Definitely might want to consider a coaching change. I wouldn’t depend on Youzhny to get me in a good headspace to win a match let alone a tournament.

The Victorian government mandates that all professional athletes must be vaccinated by November 26th.I know this relates to Victorian sports athletes and teams by certainly the first sign where things maybe heading for tennis players coming for the 2022 Australian Open.

What he said last year is that if forced by the choice of vaccination or not play, he'd have to think about that, IIRC. It will be interesting to see how he and some of the others will react, because he's far from the only one who seems opposed, or reluctant.

I also enjoy Paire, either in defeat (which is more likely these days) or in victory (as with his win over Fokina). Sad that it could not continue against Duckworth. Paire was up 4-1 in the first set only to see that slip away. In the final set his emotions got the best of him and Duckworth did improve the quality of the game. I still think Paire is a bit more inspired then he was at the beginning of the season, so there is hope he might be able to manage a few more wins this season. I often wonder if he is worked with a sports psychologist, I think someone providing a new voice in his ear may do the trick. I just feel it is sad waste of talent because Paire has shown brilliant touch at times, his backhand is great, and if he could clean up the excess double faults he could still get back to the top 25. The question remains, does he want to? Time will tell I suppose......

He will have to and other tennis players that aren't vaccinated if they want to play the AO in 2022,the way I have read the mandate from Daniel Andrews the Victorian Premier ( btw Melbourne is currently in lock down due to the Delta strain).Andrews has not come out and openly spoke about the AO 2022,as I posted this is a first sign regarding vaccinations for all professional athletes playing in Melbourne.,which would include tennis players at the AO in 2022.

After 10 years watching live tennis (practice or match play), I was finally able to watch Andy Murray play in person. Let me tell you, while he is not the same player 5-6 years ago, you can see the reason on why he has able to accomplish so much even during the peak of Big Three. Watching his backhand live is poetry in motion. He always has control over that shot and made Ruud comfortable. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about his forehand though even though he hit some great forehands in the match. Also, the speed is still there from Murray, but because of age and surgeries, he can't run down every ball liked he used to in his physical prime.

As for Ruud, his forehand HAS A LOT of action to it. While Rublev has a rocket forehand, Ruud's forehand has both speed and spin on it.

Unfortunately, FAA pulled out due to injury (probably precaution), so a lucky loser, Holmgren (a UCSD player) replaced FAA. I did get to watch Dimitrov play live for a couple games. He does have sweet ground strokes especially his backhand. One more thing: he has a slim built! I thought he will be a little bit more "bulkier" but he is extremely slim.
