BTW hearing reports that the FFT have disqualified Benoit Paire from participating in the Olympics this summer in Tokyo.
I must say I am not surprised his recent outbursts on court and his off court comments have been disgusting.
It has been confirmed that the FFT have disqualified Benoit Paire being disqualified from participating in the Olympics in Tokyo.
As well they should. Speaking of Olympics, I heard Tokyo and Osaka have gone into high Covid alerts. The games are going to be tricky.

Ladies I was able to see the match. I Heard Rafa was having his way with Samurai in the first and beginning second . What happened? Did his intensity drop or did Samurai raise his levels?
The bagel first set was deceptive...neither was convincing, just that Kei was worse. Rafa started strong, but the wobbles came in. In the 2nd, Kei broke and played better, Rafa still wobbly. In the 3rd, Rafa broke, IIRC, Kei started flagging, and only then did the intensity begin to kick in for Rafa. It was a pretty sloppy match on both sides.

Berretini won in straights, not bad, krajinovic isn’t crap on clay.
Just saw some highlights, but Berrettini finally starting to play some good tennis again?

I also read the same,Tokyo and Osaka are having 4th wave outbreaks.Quite frankly I think they should be cancelled.Too risky.

Not as woeful as Nishikori, considering it's not really his surface. Yes, Nadal allowed a break late in the 2nd, which was bad. But it was 1 x 4. Anyway, nice of those guys not to bring an A-game so that Rafa can keep rounding into form.
Well Nishikori's problem is his movement is nowhere near what it once was but he won a 6-2 set with very limited movement with shot making alone. Too many injuries have ruined him. Once fast and agile, now he barely moves and relies on taking the ball early as he always did and changing the direction of the ball often with acute angles and going for broke with winners to end points. Norrie is just crap. Flat out ugly looking ball striking and Nadal should be making mince meat out of him so, yes, he definitely needs the match play before encountering someone good here. Either way, RG is best of 5 so can play himself into form no problem there against donkies in the early rounds and whether or not he wins here or Rome is immaterial.

I hope that Nishikori isn't yet "ruined." As to Nadal playing "donkeys" in the early rounds of RG...let's face it, there are only a few people on offer that anyone can even whisper might have a chance against him at RG. But much the same is true of Djokovic. The field is growing more interesting and in confidence, but don't you think that Novak, too, is just going to play donkeys in the early rounds?

I just hope he wakes up feeling dangerous for 2 weeks in Paris. In particular, that last day.

Yeah, I hope so too about Nishikori but it doesn't look like his movement is there at all and I reckon he's done. Almost Del Potro sloth like walks between points. They all play low ranked and often crap players early at RG but it's Nadal fans who state he needs to improve and was just saying that's the best opportunity imo at RG in the early rounds as match play is better than practice.

Good match between young Greek and young Italian.
Greek lost his racket after hitting first serve, and got the point :face-with-tears-of-joy:, curious scene!

Both nervous, not very high level of play from both.
Many misshits by the Greek, but got his break in the 1st. Did he lost a set since the AO SF?
Young Sinner is too „young“ for the big guys and big matches.

Looking at Tsitsipas game right now, I cannot imagine him beating Nadal in RG, even not in Barca.
Nothing special and error prone.

Sinner has so many BP, inexperience cost him.

Sinner gave Stefanos trouble in that serve game, but he got out of it. I agree that he doesn't look as sharp today as he has.

Tsitsipas has yet to drop a set since before MC. He's going into the final with a lot of confidence.
