Somewhat shocking match - Zverev looks terrific and Thiem looks shaky. Assuming Zverev wins this, Thiem will be 0-4 in GS finals. I wonder if he's in danger of being the new Andy Murray (3-8 in Slam finals, worst pct for 10 finals in Open Era history).
This is the Lost Gen/Next Gen match that you (I think) were hoping for on that thread that @rafanoy1992 revived. Did you have a preference before the match?

Ken. Just shut up and let Mac talk. He did win slams after all.

OK. I'm quoting this post one more time for the road (you know, this being the last day of the tournament and whatnot).

Fowler reminds me of a Ken Doll,I bet he has had some face surgery

Why are you all so surprised? Zverev has crushed Federer and Djokovic in masters 1000 finals before. Also Nadal predicted a while back that for sure Zverev will be a slam champion.

Yikes. I think Domi is not going to get it done unless Zverev panics. I do have to wonder if having a crowd would have changed the dynamics of this though.
They would definitely be pulling Thiem along to at least make it a good match. Hard to think it wouldn't have had some impact.

I'm predicting a toilet break in Thiem's near future.

This is just some horrible tennis from Thiem! He looks like he just came out of bed right now.

Not really - or at least not in a heart-felt manner. I suppose I wanted Thiem to win because he's more due, but I won't be bummed out if Zverev finishes this off, as I expect him to.

The only reason I don't think the match is quite over is while Zverev looks mentally strong, if Thiem breaks him and wins a set, he could slip into his old ways. But he seems like a more mature player since coming back from the layover. This is the guy that we were expecting to see him mature into.

Zverev missed two easy forehands on those set points but he is still in command of the match. As for Thiem, damn I do not even know what to say...

Yeah, truthfully, I was pretty agnostic. Will be happy for either, though this will be rough on Thiem if he never really shows up. I agree that Thiem might still pull it off...there are 5 sets available to be played.

He finally breaks Zverev let’s see if that gives Thiem some energy to get his game back on track.
