I just can't see the Italian Open Masters happening, my friends there say things are bordering on the surreal...

You may be right. In fact, it may go beyond that one, but it is a good candidate since it’s in Italy. But who knows? In another month or so, Monte Carlo might be canceled at this rate. :radioactive::help:

They may end up playing some of these tournaments with no spectators, which is what NCAA basketball is contemplating. IW is coming right up, and California has the 2nd most cases in the US. I know sensible people who are contemplating canceling plans to fly within the US this coming week, and what do tennis players do all year long? They fly around the world on airplanes. You wonder if it's safe for them, and if it's safe for cities/countries hosting these events to introduce them in. SXSW festival in Austin (huge music/film/tech event) was just postponed because the Mayor of Austin deemed it unsafe to bring loads of people into his town right now. Unless something changes drastically, I don't see the Italian Open happening, at least in Italy. France and Germany also have a pretty high number of cases. Spain has not so many now, and could host some clay events, but they are already considering canceling large public events.

Which means he won’t have enough time to prepare for Wimbledon.
I thought that the whole idea of skipping the clay season was that he WOULD have enough time to prepare for Wimbledon. Can even do 2 grass tune-ups.

Not true.. remember if this is a typical clay season, all the top players will have dead legs while Roger will have fresh legs and a back that can propel him into the 2nd week easily.

federer will maybe play 3 grass tourneys..i know he said he wouldnt play 3 again before but that was before he had his injury and break from tour.

he cannot go straight into halle after only 1 tourney since last years wtf.

he could lose early and then what ?..go to wimbledon with 1 match?..play eastbourne just b4 wimbledon ?, too risky, if he plays stuttgart it gives him a chance to see where he is it, and an early loss won't matter as halle would be next, that way whatever happens he still gets a week off after halle before wimby.

Wow, this is sort of shocking and not, at the same time. But this does not bode well for the whole European clay season.
