If no one goes to Asia in the fall, they might play IW instead?? Otherwise, I don't know when it fits.

Quite frankly if I was a player I would not be going to Asia full stop, the virus is rampant there at the moment, though hopefully by the fall it may be contained.

I am not sure whether we can banish Asia as a whole. I think Asia - China is probably doing better than some other countries such as Italy.

I understand that Japan and South Korea are also in serious trouble.

Poor Tommy Haas, snake bitten as player (per a myriad of injuries) and snake-bitten as a tournament director....

I disagree here in Sydney we have had people that have come back from China and are sick with the virus,I would not trust a thing China says about anything at any time quite frankly, seeing the virus started in Wuhan to begin with.Iran is also in big trouble with the virus.

Take what China says with a huge grain of salt. If Italy is being open about how bad it is, what are the chances that it's over in China?

The thing is Italy is doing the testing, which is why the cases are higher. Italy’s healthcare system is actually very good. You will see that once the US and other countries ratchet up the testing, the number of cases will increase explosively. Currently the US can not do as many tests as it should, which means the true numbers could be much higher than reported. I guess Trump prefers it that way.

You misread my post. I said "Asia minus China is doing better than some countries such as Italy".

Nothing short, i just read Boccacio's "Decameron" around 2 months ago, before this situation. History repeats.

I try also to understand why Italy so much. I think particulates are reason (PM_10, PM2.5). North of Italy is very polluted. Virus is spreading with help of particulates and Dolomites dont allow su much air current - wind. This might explain - photo.

Well the nightmare continues in Italy with all professional sports competitions are now cancelled till April.

I found this in-depth interview with David Nalbandian from 9 March 2020. Especially of interest to @calitennis127, perhaps. It's in Spanish, and I won't translate the whole thing, but if anyone can't get what they want from google translate (or whatever,) I'm happy to help. He was in Iguazu Falls for an exhibition of "Padel," (paddle sport? Paddle tennis? Seems to be some combination of tennis and handball, popular in Spain, apparently.) It made me laugh when he said he likes it because he doesn't have to run too much. He's also done some rally car driving. His kids are 4 and 7 and he sounds very happy. He talks about leaving the endless travel behind, and says it's especially hard for the South American players. (I'd say they aren't the only ones, but point taken.)

The site has an English version of the interview.

The travel aspect From his POV i I’m guessing is that top ATP level sections (including Majors/Masters) of the tour occur through Europe, the Americas and Asia but not in South America.

How many 500 tier tournaments get played in the Southern Hemisphere.

Though I think South African players have little sympathy ....

Thanks, I didn't realize it came already translated. I think that, while the travel is a lot, it's less so only if you're from No. America or Europe.
