This is where you're reading in: Tiley didn't say he asked Roger his preference. He merely said that Roger mentioned that it would be better for him. And they didn't occult the fact that they'd talked about it. Do you really believe that the AO moved it's schedule for a "maybe" from Roger, when, as Margaret has explained to you, from on the ground, and she has sources close to Tiley, that it's more about pandemic concerns? I think you are looking for conspiracies where they don't exist.
Thanks Moxie. I was going to book tickets for the AO on Wednesday the 23rd,would you believe we here in Sydney have had a outbreak of COVID in our northern beaches with 80 cases, thank goodness our government here has locked down the area,no other cases have been in other area's of Sydney. All the other states of Australia have blocked us out, that means we cannot go anywhere.
Sad to say I will not be booking tickets for me and my husband for the AO 2021,it is too risky.,I do not know when the other states will allow us to travel..,until we can get this current outbreak controlled.

I hear you, Margaret. It was hard to watch the USO from only some 7 miles away knowing that we couldn't attend. Everyone is trying to figure it out. Maybe next year things will be normal by the USO.

And the Daily Mail named Djokovic its "Covidiot of the Year" for the Adria Tour. First time awarded, and hopefully, the last. :pile-of-poo: :face-with-tears-of-joy:

To clarify: I have no doubt that Tennis Austraila has a lot of challenges. I am not going along with the premise that Federer was somehow involved in the decision making process to move the AO starting date.

However, considering how Federer has so many fingers in so different pies, such as an investor in a management company TEAM8(under Godsick), which among other things, manages current ATP players and has tournaments it actually helps run and has a financial stake in, so in a sense he's part of tennis "management". Nothing illegal nor even inappropriate per the tennis scene, but he has vested interests in how things pan out.

Just my personal preference, I wish that Tiley would just shut up and not mention a current active player's views on this matter and how it could potentially benefit him, especially a walking multiple conflict of interests such as the Federer . Optics just aren't the best.

I posted on this site that Federer and Serena were some of the players initially confirmed to play the AO 2021.
Federer had a set back with his rehab training and confirmed he might not play.
Of course Craig Tiley was going to keep in contact with Federer and his team,he openly stated that he did.
BTW if it had been Nadal or Novak for example Tiley would have kept in contact with them and their team.
I wish people would stop 'implying' that the AO was changed to suit Federer.
If posters had read the earlier posts I posted WHY the AO 2021 date was changed due to the 'second wave' and complete lockdown in Melbourne,Tennis Australia had to work closely with the Victorian Government for it to allow it to begin with. There was a good chance the AO 2021 was going to be cancelled.Working out protocols etc, quarantine issues, takes a lot of working out.The Victorian Government had to be fully convinced that the Tennis Australia had all the protocols in place.

I disagree,if it had been Novak or Nadal,Tiley would have kept in contact with them and their teams.
Tiley has openly stated a few times he has spoken to Federer and his team, nothing wrong with that at all.
The AO 2021 date was not changed to assist Federer playing at all.
Can you imagine the 'out cry of fans' if these conversations between Federer and Tiley were not disclosed? yes media and twiiter has a way of finding out these things, regardless of Federer's out side interests, which should not even come into the equation of why the AO is now being held in February......Federer made a statement saying the 8th of February suited him more for his recovery and chance of playing? gee now people are Reading as Usual Too Much into this statement.
We are lucky the AO 2021 is being played,as I live in Sydney,Australia we have had another outbreak of COVID,now all the borders are closed to Sydney.....there goes my chance of attending the AO 2021.

I have no objections to their meeting.
I have no objections to discussions they have.
I actually have no objection to Fed's comments to Tiley perse.

Again, Just my personal preference, I feel there is no need for Tiley to make public that moving the date benefits Federer per their private conversation..

That's all.

No crime, no transgression, just stating that it unnecessarily feeds all the insider stuff that others speculate about.

I have had many interactions with Craig in the past,he has always been upfront and speaks his mind, which quite frankly I admire, you know where you stand with him.

The ATP and WTA have announced the discontinuation of the ATP/WTA Live Scores App across all mobile and desk top platforms. As a result of changes made to the date feed, the app is no longer able to support the technical requirements of both the ATP and WTA.

I take your point, because it certainly riled up ol' tennisville. For my part, it didn't bother me or surprise me. There are plenty of ways that elite players get preferential treatment, like telling the tournaments when they'd prefer to play on a given day, getting "byes." As to giving the impression that the AO moved its whole tournament in the hopes that it would give Roger more time to recover, I do think reading that in is a stretch. Especially with Margaret telling us all along how complicated it was to negotiate with the government, etc. to make the AO happen, at all. It is a fact that tennis is a bit "chummy," though, and there are conflicts of interest that need to be addressed.
