If the players go into the mandatory 14 day self isolation and take a further test in 5 days and it tests positive they should be okay.

I don’t get it. Why would it be a good thing for them to still test positive?

One of the lingering problems with this virus is the 'fatique factor' that may take longer to recover.

Great point.

I am very curious to see now if the US Open and French Open will happen this year after this debacle. Also, the big thing about this debacle is the older or immunocompromised people that get infected. I hope nobody dies from COVID-19 in this irresponsible Adria Tour.
Jon Wertheim says it's a setback for tennis, but if nothing else, anyone who was inclined not to take this virus seriously enough, or to have found the protocols too punitive or restrictive, they'll now be more willing to adhere to them, or stay away, rather than tweeting out complaints.

The better question, perhaps, is whether the USTA will allow him to attend, knowing he has tested positive. I’m guessing no — they’ll tell him not to come.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking, first they have to be recovered 100% and even that who knows if the USTA will allow them to play

This is the statement from Novak......I had to type it.

Hi everyone. We're back in Belgrade and I've tested positive toCOVID-19 as well as Jelena. The kids have tested negative. We will remain in self-isolation for the next 14 days and repeat the test in 5 days.
I am deeply sorry our tournament has caused harm.Everything the organizers and I did the past month,we did with a pure heart and sincere intentions. We believed the tournament met all health protocols and the health of our region seemed in good condition to finally unite people for philanthropic reasons. We were wrong and it was too soon.I cannot express enough how sorry I am for this and every case of infection.
If you attended Adria Tour or were around any attendees please get tested and practice social distancing.
The rest of the tournament has been cancelled and we will remain focused on all those who have been affected.
I pray for everyone's full recovery.

Hope he and the other players and wives have learned the lesson. They are excelentes players but not too much brain

Running really clears your head in ,lots of ways, even though it is freezing here in Sydney

I really think Novak should resign as President of the Players Council

It was clearly irresponsible for him not to have social distancing, and other strict protocols that health officials have been stressing to every day citizens.Hugging, hand shakes, packed stadiums with fans, going to night clubs, having basketball matches with fellow players was just 'Madness'.

As a president of any organization you have to set a good example,he did not.
Hopefully he will learn from this he has put the lives of people in jeopardy, hopefully all will recover.

I think Theim should not have gone to play at another tournament even if he had tested negative,he has still been in close contact with players that have tested positive? we advise here in Sydney that if a person has come in contact with a carrier of this virus to self isolate.,same applies to Zverev and the other players that tested negative.

Other than the fierce backlash for his irresponsibility, Djoke is actually better off now that he is immune. No quarantine necessary for him, etc. while others worry about falling ill just before USO and FO.

I think you'd be playing with house money if you bet that Novak will resign as President of the Player's Council.

Immune? according to the doctors there is not any proof that after to be infected they can't be infected again.

Does anyone know the long term physical effects of getting the COVID yet? He may not be out of the woods yet, just saying.

On another point, If Novak wants to salvage any credibility in the tennis world, he can't afford to be nonchalant and careless in the public eye again. Unfortunately for Novak, this incident is going to haunt him throughout the rest of his career; he doesn't have (fairly or not ) the built in goodwill that Rafa/Federer have accumulated to ride out this storm.

It’s a guess. I may be wrong. It just seems like it wouldn’t look good, after everything they’ve been trying to do to keep everyone safe.

But he's not going to actively carry the virus into late August. Just because he was stupid, doesn't mean that he remains eternally infectious. Now, if they decide to dis-invite him for punitive reasons, that's another issue. However, I think they'd prefer to have him.

When Theim went to play in France, he didn't know that he'd been exposed in Belgrade. Now, whether hopping from one country to another to play even exho's was wise? That's another question. We keep coming back to the same thing: basically, they didn't take it seriously. They wanted to play tennis, and tennis was on offer. It's one thing to feel young and invincible, but it's quite another to have an elite tennis career, and some responsibility in this pandemic. They've been reckless and stupid, and they deserve whatever blow-back they get.

This is true. Also the virus can mutate. He's not better off, he's only worse, mostly likely, because of the effect on the lungs.

Wow it seems that Djokovic fans are as clueless as their player.
