Nice to see my Aussie and No 1 seed yes I will skit:) on centre court....I have not seen Harriet Dart from GBR play before though I dont know why I love her name:) first meeting for this pair.

I could see an upset in the match between Konta and Stephens,Konta defeated Sloane on her fav surface at RG just recently can she get a win against Konta.Konta will have the crowd on her side for sure.

Gawd, when was the last time we could say that? Even when it happened, no one could celebrate it for years! Evonne achieved the feat for a couple weeks, but wasn't acknowledged until years later! "Congrats Barty!" :yesyes:  :ptennis:

Evonne was No 1 for 2 weeks back in 1976 I think.....long time between drinks:) remember when she came back on the tour after having a baby and won Wimbledon, one of the finest one handed backhands in womens tennis ever, she used to glide around the court....also a great person to boot.

I want to pose a question to Baron @britbox seeing we are both huge fans of Steffi Graf...apparently she prefers to be called Stefanie according to her husband:) Having a great discussion with some tennis coaches who have watched Graf and Ash Barty....I said as far as I am concerned showing no bias,to me Ash has just as good as Graf's bhand slice,I know it is a huge compliment I will stand with that opinion.

Random comment but I read the other day that Agassi and Graf’s son plays baseball... and apparently Might be selected in the 2020 MLB draft but plans to play baseball at USC

Pitcher apparently his best position but also hits

Bencic had 3-0 and love-40 on Riske's serve. 3 break points for 4-love. Then lost those and the game. And from there was just so angry with herself that she lost the next 3 games as well. Just completely collapsed. To be fair. Riske is great on this surface, as we know. And she ALWAYS fights. And she played so well after going down. But Bencic just.... I'm not sure collapsed is the right word. Because she was just so angry. She missed plenty of shots, but Riske did hit winners as well and played well to get her off balance. But Bencic basically just walked herself into losing this match from 3-love up because she just couldn't let go of losing those 3 break points.

She nearly broke back down 3-4. Had 2 break points. But Riske saved those as well. Bencic finally held to stop the run of 5 straight games for Riske. But Riske to serve for it. Tough day for Bencic. It would be nice to see Riske make the 4th round here for the first time. As good as she can be on this surface, she's just not that great and has not been able to clear this 3rd round hurdle here. Only has one other 4th round at a slam period. But I was really hoping to see Bencic play Barty.

Great win for Alison Riske. Very disappointing from Bencic. Has had too good of a year to let it slip away like that. But. All credit to Riske. She believed. She fought. She played better down the stretch. Fantastic day for her.

Bhand slice from Ash is just World Class....it was great on the clay at RG,though here on the grass it is just sublime

Good to see the wild card Harriet Dart on the score board....Ash will serve for the 1st set 5-1

In 25 mins Ash wins the 1st set 61

The commentators actually talking about how improved that backhand slice is. They said they watched some of her matches here last year and felt that it was a little floaty. But this year it's better and much more effective. As we've seen all week.

I haven't really watched any of Barty this week more than a game here or there because she's dominating. So I go watch other matches that are more competitive.
So I'm watching Serena/Goerges and Bertens/Strycova right now.

And while I think a match with Serena would be a different ball game, a whole other challenge for Barty, especially since she hasn't been challenged, you can see where, Barty is just playing so well that she could very well beat Serena. I wasn't sure at the start of this week. But it'd be hard to argue she can't go out and beat Serena in straights at this point. As much struggle as we've seen from Serena. Even if she wins today in straights to steady the ship and gets a good win the fourth round, you can still see her lack of match play coming back to haunt her against Barty. But of course I would never say Serena can't win that match. And is probably still the favorite.

Barty has to get to Serena. She'll have Riske in the 16's and Alli is no slouch on the grass. Barty will probably win, but it won't be easy against Riske

It will definitely be competitive. You have to give Ash the edge because she's the higher ranked player, but Riske is good on this surface and like Ash she won a tuneup
