If you're hurt, you're hurt. He's going to run this one out, because he's never retired, but he's not right...that's clear.

That is the difference between Federer and Nadalovic. He loses like a man at least.

Roger checked out after choking away the BP's. I'm not sure if anything is wrong physically, if so I don't think it's the biggest factor. When you do what he did at Wimbledon there is a carryover effect in big moments for the foreseeable future.
I don't think he's physically right. Anyway, sorry, Darth. I know this is painful. :rose:

It would be an amazingly handsome final, that’s for sure.
Buddy, not even close to a Grigor vs. Matteo

Roger-Rafa never happening at the Open is just a weird anomaly...
I really thought we were going to get it this year, to cap their rivalry. But you may be right...now it may never happen, and it is weird. In tennis terms, a bit tragic.

He's fine. He was toast mentally. Grigor played like a wall to his credit and why not when you know your opponent will spray errors every few shots.

As other posters put above, credit must be given to Dimitrov.
Indeed, as the most written-off guy in tennis, even including Alexander Zverev, he did pull off the win of his career. Even including the WTF against "no one remembers."

I don't really see any reason why he'd be mentally toast against Dimitrov, particularly early on. He did appear out of kilter. More likely physical (the commentators pointed out things during the match) but it doesn't really matter... if you're on court, you're good to go. I like the fact he doesn't retire and sees matches out.

I am happy for Grigor, he is a lot better than his recent ranking 78 would suggest.
The comeback begun.

Agreed. That was a total meltdown. Even when he won the third set I felt very uneasy about his level. He had some great offensive points but the errors were horrendous. This was the one he needed to escape and he didn't.

What a missed opportunity with Djokovic having been knocked out. Smh.

Didn’t know many people are writing Zverev off, he’s 22 and part of NextGen

I disagree. His backhand was horrendous for much of the match - that is, until Federer fell apart in the fourth set and Dimitrov got a surge of confidence from it. Federer lost this more than Dimitrov won it.

Dimitrov's dumbstruck look about winning tells you all you need to know. I was not impressed much by Dimitrov because I didn't really see any improvement from what he has demonstrated in the past.

I'm afraid this not a case of Dimitrov being better but of Federer being worse.
