I still think Thiem likes time on the ball, which I don't think favors him. What do you think? I agree that Querrey is a terrible place to start for him, esp. given that Querrey beat Djoker in 2016. If Querrey can play anywhere near like that, he'll get the upset.

Well, I am hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. I agree that historically Querrey played at a higher level than Thiem on grass, on the other hand I do think Thiem will be able to sustain a very high level on all surfaces at some point. Just not sure it is that soon on grass in particular.

If Roger doesn't make the semis then something significant happened. He clearly has the easiest route to the SF of the big three.

My first thought about Novak's upset was Tsitsipas, who I think is about ready and will win one of the next three Slams. That said, he may prefer facing Novak than his arch-nemesis FAA, who is a very dangerous floater for anyone but clearly has Tits' number. I think FAA needs to become a bit more consistent--not to mention work on his second serve--to win a Slam, but he could put it together and upset Novak.
Agreed about Roger. Of course, the odd troll complains, but seriously. When I first looked at Novak's draw, I thought he'd pulled a bad card. But when I started to work my way through the draw challenge, (which I always find a great way to really understand the draw,) I could see that, except for a tricky first round, it wasn't so bad. And then it depends on young rising stars, I think. If they hold their nerve and get to him, FAA and/or Tsitsipas could cause trouble/upset. If they don't last that long, the options on offer are Monfils or Dimitrov in his quarter, maybe Goffin or Medevedev in his half. None of those really strike fear.

He lost so many matches he was supposed to win lately that I really do not think it will be significant. About FAA, I was very impressed with what I saw from him on grass. I agree that he is just one step away.

If Roger loses before the finals it may be time to think about packing it in. He hasn't performed decent at a major in awhile, this figures to be the best remaining chance, especially with an easy draw.

Looking at the draw, if Thiem gets past Querrey, he doesn't have a tough path to QFs. But then he'd probably get either Nadal or Cilic and there I don't like his chances.

wimbledon used to have a seeding committee that would meet and move players up or down as they saw fit..

thats why alot of players moaned and is the reason why they switched to the grass formula..same for everyone.

I thought he played well in Paris to be honest.
I did, too, but you know Darth's standards: if you didn't win the tournament, you sucked and may has well have gone out in the first round, or skipped it entirely.

You wish. On that note, I am rooting for a Berrettini Djokovic final.
Everyone can wish what he wants.

My absolutely favourite final would be Novak-Bull, think it’s not very unlikely. Still sad it doesn’t happened in Paris.

Me too, he lost to the best. And would have only to two others, Novak and Thiem. That’s pretty good for maestro.
Now he is in a much better position.

It is a sweet draw. He'll know he'd better take advantage.

Yeah needs time on the ball and isn’t a good returner, which is more important against someone like Querrey. He doesn’t beat Novak, only a shadow of him :).
But agree it’s a nightmare match for the Austrian.

Let’s be honest, thiem is nothing to talk about in view of having a chance to do something serious at Wimbledon.

I thought he played well in Paris to be honest.

Semifinal is nothing special at this stage especially against this competition. Roger beat 4 Jane Does and a washed up Stan before getting slaughtered by Nadal. It was a dumb decision to even bother there when we knew he couldn't be a threat.

With that said it may not end up being a disaster of a decision since 2 seed is way better than 3 seed in this draw, but only time will tell. But it's a bit of luck that the disparity is that wide. Without that his time on clay would have been a waste of valuable energy. Bottom line is he will need to play better here, that's for sure. Shouldn't be hard, no one thought he'd do anything on clay anyways.

No one cares about that inferior tour.
You really are getting techy and ugly. Whatever you think about the women's game, Wimbledon is one tournament. To have two sets of rules re: seeding is odd.

Coric pulled out. Just doing the draw challenge and noticed he is not there anymore and saw some news after. Beretinni moves to his place and Struff went to Beretinni place and Schnur is a LL to play Baghdatis.
