Dude..it's getting to the point that you are starting to be embrassing. Numbers don't lie..

What the hell are you talking about? If you're talking about Nadal winning, show me a time where I "predicted" that he absolutely would not win a certain Grand Slam event.

I was the only person on this board adamantly maintaining that his body would not break down after 30 like everyone else said it would.

I understand his success better than you or any other Nadal fan. Always have. That's what in 2015 I was not one of the people saying he was finished. I did not think for a second that he was. His level of play looked fine to me.

Cali..hey I tap myself on the back more than anyone but there's no way you know more about Rafa's game than Moxie, Tented , ImJimmy or myself.. you need to squash that foolishness..also, I saw your post regarding Rafa tennis is less talented than Roger and Novak's.. that's extremely extraordinary preposterous..I would say that Roger's game shows that her is the better overall natural talent but Novak's overhead and net game pales in comparison to Rafa's.

It’s great to see Nadal win in five sets because he had some very difficult five set losses at the U.S. Open against Fognini and Pouille. So it’s extra special to this time win a marathon..

Why does Djokovic's net game "pale in comparison" to Nadal's?

Djokovic is definitely the more talented player, even if Nadal has overachieved more. I wouldn't deny for a second that Nadal has gotten more out of his ability than Djokovic has out of his. That is a testament to Nadal's work ethic and fortitude that he has overachieved as much as he has.

Good point..those doesn't bother me as much as the three AO finals five setters to Novak and Roger..plus the close roof at Wimbledon to Novak. This is satisfying, Well I, thank God I don't have vices like drinking or smoking but it's gonna be some Barry White's music in the bedroom tonight..

Cali, this is the book on Novak's game..draw and dare him into the front court or close to the net. He is a fish out of water..ask Fiero or any "honest " Djokervic fan..Cali, I saw Novak last great stand vs Medvedev from the front row in Cincy..Novak had control of the match until Danil was in dire straits and just started going big on his service..There was nothing Novak's brilliant return of service could do..I spoke to his team and they said that Novak had no answers.. Tonight in the 5 set , Danil tried the same thing but Rafa's brilliant defense forced him to hit another ball. If you want to review this match turning point.it was 2-2 40 love Medvedev .Rafa tried to concede the game and just block a ball back into play. Danil had an easy ufEs and two more that made the score deuce .. Rafa stole that game and retook control of the match.. That's a combination of being mental tougher and wearing Medvedev down. However you and others will Never see it that way..

Well if I had the choice between 4 AO & 1 USO or 4 USO & 1 AO I'd take the latter. The USO will always be the #1 hardcourt tournament, it has much more history.

Every champion has difficult losses like the ones you mentioned but it's great to see Nadal win this one because like you say it is satisfying and kind of erases some of the bad memories. If he had lost this match after such a lead, it would have rivaled this year's Federer Wimbledon loss and it would have been a disaster. I'm glad that we didn't have to go through it.

Rafa this year has won his 12th RG (even beating Court's 11 AO), finally defended a title off clay (to shut down the haters), has a serious chance to get a 5th year end no.1 finish and extra weeks at no.1, and now has 4 USO titles (and an extremely respectable 7 slams outside of clay). He is literally shutting down the haters. The man is just epic.:dance3::yesyes:

In summary, nadal was not close to his best in first set, only reason medvedev didn’t win that set was because medvedev used the wrong tactics of not being offensive. Nadal was tentative with his fh, he couldn’t make a 1st serve...

Later in the match, medvedev starting being more aggresive, coming to net... nadal was playing better but still tentative.

Medvedev is a talented player but his bread and butter is not offense, nadal should’ve won this in straights.. clearly, he let medvedev off the hook.

I saw positive signs from medvedev though, he can play offense, he’s like murray though, it’s not his comfort zone. I think nadal has the type of game to beat medvedev easier than this, rafa was not letting his fh fly, not sure why.. nerves, pressure, tactics.. he could’ve totally finished this in 3 had he been more loose with his fh.

True, standing so far back on the ad return was absurdly stupid. Medvedev really blew it by not taking the first set.

I agree about that 40-0 game and I brought it up in another post. But I don't think Nadal had any answers for Medvedev when he went big on his serve either. Medvedev hit a number of serves that flew right past Nadal.

Nadal did not win this match with outstanding returns. I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about.
