2019 Men’s Wimbledon Final: Novak Djokovic vs. Roger Federer

I would like to see Novak always play like in the Melbourne final or Doha final but that’s not how it works.

I never thought Nole could outdo being "in the zone" in Doha/Qatar event a few years ago against Nadal! The AO Final was a masterpiece for the ages! It's not like Rafa isn't playing well enough, but like a child going up against an adult, it was embarrassing and entertaining at the same time! I can watch those 2 matches over and over again! The only think that could have made it better was if Rafa had really lost his cool and busted a racket or smacked a ball hitting someone outside of a point! There was more than a little bit of frustration on his face "down under" that was priceless! Does this make me even more of a troll? :whistle:

Well don't we all? Maybe not a effigy of Fed, but one of Nadal or Djokovic! I was one who was a huge fan and placed Roger on a pedestal; even drinking the Kool-Aid that the only reason he was dropping matches to Nadal early on was gamesmanship among other things! You had to like his style of play and his demeanor on and off the court! I never warmed up to Nadal, but Fedal were inextricably linked after their battles started well over a decade ago! Nole was an interloper around '08 and was getting no love from anywhere! It so reminded me of Ivan Lendl trying to battle the auras of Borg, Connors, and McEnroe almost 40 years ago! I had to take pity on him too! That's probably why I've shifted my allegiance from Roger to the 3rd wheel but present #1 ranked player in the world, Novak Djokovic! :whistle:

Part of what makes this Wimbledon trophy for Novak even more special is because he won it ugly. That's a GOAT feature. The whole match was mostly about handling the pressure. No one went all in at any period in the match. It was much different to let's say AO 12 Nadal-Novak. There were periods in that match when they just played with nothing to lose approach.

This time there was so much nerves in the final. So much was on the line and I feel like Novak could not attack more and risk getting broken on his serve. Novak not being able to break Fed until 4th set was very very worrying and even then he did it when set was basically gone. He played smart and so did Fed, but as everyone knows big moments made a difference. I still can't believe that Novak did it through 3 TBs against Fed. Unreal victory.

Man a lot of people are in their feelings over an outcome that isn’t going to change. Djokovic is still going to be the winner. Federer let Djokovic get by on average play at the end of the day. Like I said in a previous post, it really looked like Djokovic did just enough to stay in it, and then at points in the match when he realized the score decided to turn his game on to at least his B game.

You have to understand federer and nadal fanboys, they can’t enjoy tennis unless their player wins and when their player loses, they give no credit to opponents. Instead of enjoying classics, like 08 and 19 wimbledon finals, they try and convince people these matches are overrated and garbage. How can you call yourself a tennis fan with this type of mentality? Unlike them, i seldom trash matches where nadal or djokovic lose... even to federer. Did i make excuses when nadal lost to fed in semis? I actually enjoyed that match. If i borrow from how they think, i would be miserable, claiming nadal choked, it was a horrible match etc...

These guys need to start being fans of the sport... this obsession with one player takes away from the beauty of the rivalries we’ve been lucky have for so long.
