My goodness Djokovic's return to form though. Just... to win 5 games in a row and then get a bagel. Ouch. Just.... I mean I guess you just have to chock it up to Djokovic being nearly unstoppable. But Shapovalov just not even close to "there" yet.

If Djokovic is this mentally fragile, he's vulnerable. As to Shapo, he needs a better coach. He is a man with no plan. Just a live arm, and the attitude of a skateboarder.
Nah, did you see the fourth set? It’s a hiccup he could easily afford.

Djokovic is mad at some heckler in the stands, and apparently it's not over. Not in English. Interesting.
NOTHING would please me more than to see him bundled outta the AO. Big time.

Coric breaks. Let Krajinovic save two break points. But Krajinovic's forehand veered wide on the third.

Holds for 3-love.

These commentators are mildly annoying though. My stream being a Eurosport stream. They're acting like they're super surprised that Coric has not played well and Krajinovic took the first set. And I'm just liiiikkee.... you clearly don't watch Coric very often do you. If there's a way for him to lose to a lesser player, he'll find it. But also. Krajinovic was in a masters final at the end of 2017 (thanks to a Nadal walkover). He ain't no pushover. Even if his 2018 was pretty meh. I consider Coric the more talented player. But he's always had his (annoying) demons.

But they are right in that Coric mostly just needed to clean it up and he's mostly done that now and he's mostly cruising. Though not this game.
Thanks for the update. I have been all about the Djokovic/Shapo match until now.

hey when's Zverev match coming up vs Alex Bolt ? If Zverev falls asleep as he did in his previous match losing the third and fourth sets to Chardy, I sense Bolt will cause a boilover.

Djokovic just said, "Did you call me a weteran?" I love when v gets switched for w.

I did see the fourth set. You and I both watched him melt down in the 3rd, though. That can't happen against someone better than the skateboard champ.

Has it occurred to Jim Courier on Australia Channel 9 that some of these players might like going to get a shower after the match? It's not a fricken talk show.

I’m not more or less confident about his chances after this match.

Medvedev will be a real test, let’s see how that goes.

Courier is a bit cringeworthy, but Novak said some nice things.

Yeah and I basically never went back to that one after I shut it off mid 3rd set. So I appreciate everyone's discussion of Djokovic's mini meltdown.

well said. i feel they overdo the players interviews after the matches. Another thing, Channel Nine have too many talking heads, over hyping the tennis. That's what happens when you have a one network monopoly of the Australian Open.

I didn't want to say it. But Courier is one of my least favorite interviewers. His commentary is alright. But he's just not my favorite. He's one of the more accomplished commentators, as far as his career. So he gets a lot of leeway. But I just put up with him.

Much prefer Wilander on Eurosport with Game, Schett and Mats (literally listening to it right now) and his in match commentary. And McEnroe (either one actually), but mostly John.

Of course the best commentators are the non greats of the game. Your Drysdale's and Robby Koenigs and the other Drysdale. I can't remember the dudes name. But I used to confuse him for Drysdale.

I don't want to take away your confidence. But Shapovalov was throwing the match away with his ineptitude, until Djokovic found a way to complicate his own life in the 3rd. That was dumb. Going forward, he can't afford to lose this much focus. That was a big lapse. Maybe he was just bored, because Shapo was so lame, so he distracted himself.

Robby Koenig is awesome indeed.

It's not so much what he asks but the length of time he keeps them out there. After one of the Federer matches, the Swiss was out there so long I thought they were putting together a box set series for Netflix.

That actually probably has less to do with Courier. He's probably been told to milk it because the AO and every tournament in the world knows that they're biggest seller is any of these guys from the Big 3. People don't just want to watch them play. They want to watch them do anything and everything. And they are a business. Gotta sell tickets. The TV people probably tell Courier and the tournament the same thing. Better ratings.
