Sheesshhh, The US used to at least win in dubs! None of our teams even made the semi's of our Nat'l Championship! Wow; $uck$! :nono:
The #1 team won, though. Good on the Colombians.

The Big three and the coin thrower have already qualified for WTF (sorry for the foul language).

Four more spots are open.

Thiem and Perseus seem to be shoe in as well though not officially qualified.

There is going to be a fierce fight for the last two spots with only 1000 points separating 17 different players ( RBA at #7 with 2350 points and #23 Bailashville has 1350 points).

Kevin Anderson has decided to finish his tennis season now and go into rehab for his lingering injury after speaking to his doctor and his team.

Nadal not going to chase number one like he said but he gets the chance to get it then he will of course hopefully by winning wtf title for the first time.

I just really struggle to see Rafa win the YEC. Not as long as it is played indoors, as it always is. He's got a few indoor titles. But to beat the best 8 players of the year indoors, especially when 2 of them are the best indoor players of all time, is always a stretch for him.

Plus now that Medvedev has had nearly 5 hours of play against him in addition to their first match in Toronto, if they get into the same round robin group, I'd expect Medvedev to beat him. Thiem on hard courts, is.... that one is probably a toss up. Assuming Thiem is healthy and even plays the YEC. I don't know about Tsitsipas indoors yet. No idea. If Zverev or Khachanov make it there, I'd pick either of them indoors over Rafa. No idea about Berrettini indoors. Rafa against Nishikori anywhere usually goes well for him. RBA doesn't need to do much to ensure his spot. So assuming he makes it, I'd probably take Rafa in that matchup. But he's definitely not the favorite to take any indoor title that Djokovic and Fed suit up at in my book.

I do however think he's got a great chance at number 1 because Djokovic is a good ways back and probably won't win enough to pass Rafa. Especially if he's not fully healthy and doesn't play both masters events and a 500 level.

I don't think Rafa needs to win WTF to finish as YE #1. He already has closed to 2000 points lead in the race rankings over Nole and with the injury scare of Novak, he is not probably going to outperform Rafa by that many points in the remainder of the season.

p.s. If Rafa achieves YE #1 again, all members of the big three would have reached YE#1 exactly five times, a perfect three way tie.

Right, but he will know that the WTF is lacking on his resume. It would be great to get it.

Personally, I'd prefer he win the WTF than end the year #1 again, but I think if he does win the WTF, he'd be YE#1, so evens as odds. But the WTF is one of the holes in the resume that will be debate in the never-ending future.

It will be interesting to see on how Nadal will prepare for the WTF this year, Moxie (if he does play the tournament). He is getting married this October so he will skip the Asia swing. One thing for sure: let's hope he does not overplay so his body and mind can rest be ready for 2020 season.

I guess he'll play Laver Cup. (Not sure at all what goes on with Davis Cup this year, tbh.) Yes, I think the wedding will keep him out of the Asia swing, which is just as well. Come back refreshed and play Paris and WTF...could be a good formula!
