It sorta invalidates his decision to break from the clay season to be fresher for the Big W! He was obviously rusty and has been vulnerable since his return in the warm-ups!   :ptennis:

Rusty? He’s 36. I’m amazed he even won a slam this year.

And it looks like he can no longer play long matches anymore.

I said early on it would be too difficult to replicate his 2017; esp. at his age! It was "other worldly" IMO for him to recapture '06 winning AO and the first 2 Masters events last season! You don't have to be a psychic to know that wasn't happening this year; even though he started out nicely with another AO title! :lol3:   :ptennis:

This quote from the presser says it all: “Just today when I needed it, I couldn’t get it up.”

Haha! That's rather an ambiguous quote to say the least & it would still be if he specified he was talking about balls too & I haven't got a dirty mind. I guess it depends how you interpret it though. I'm laughing my head off here.

All good things must come to an end. It's been an awesome ride for the past 15 years, 17 if you count the Wimbledon 01 victory against Sampras. We can be proud of Fed's achievements even though he's underachieved but 20 slams for a talented player is a rarity because most naturally talented players don't utitlise even 30-40% of their talent.

Hats off to Fed for winning 3 slams when even one looked impossible after Wimbledon 16 injury. Thanks for the entertainment, Mr Federer. Time to move on to a different sport. Truly sad day that an individual skill based sport has come to this tragic end.

Only in this world can being the top holder of majors by a man be considered underachieving, but it's so true in this instance! If Federer's the undisputed GOAT, why are there 2 players who seem to have his number overall; esp. Nadal who's owned Fed since the beginning!? I give all due credit to the man, but 100 years from now if the records hold, most will forget this; sorta like Lew Hoad owning Laver! Who do we reference in pre-open greatness above all others? Even Rosewall had Laver's number in the end even though old and grey; most players have a player that frustrates them and no one's done it better than Rafa! I hate to see it, but those are the cold, hard facts! END HISTORIC RANT! :nono:  :ptennis:

That's the whole lament going on here. You don't need a better player to beat Fed. Was Coric a better player? Kokkinakis? I don't think it's rust either. He is out of luck if he has a bad day. At 37, he can't chase the ball. Kids are more motivated to beat him than to win a masters or a grand slam. So choking will result in death.

This is embarrassing.

But, hats off to KA. He was fully in command for the entire duration of the last three sets.

I must say that even though Fed won the second set, in second set also it was KA who looked in control. He broke Fed early and consolidated it too to get to 3-0. Fed needed to come back from behind to level it. Further again in the TB, Fed was behind and needed to come back. Finally, in the TB also Fed blotched two set points on his own server by misfired forehands.

This win is not a lucky or fluke win by KA. He fully deserved it.

I don't think he can beat Nadal even at this level. Beating a choking Federer on court 1 is different from being nadal on center court.

If he can't outplay KA with one eye shut and one hand behind his back then he shouldn't have even showed up. KA ain't capable of shit, Roger handed this clown the match.

LOL, Anderson isn't winning anything big. He won't win the semi and even if he did he'd win 5 games in the final.
At least he bet that old guy fed who needs to retire, because hes not winning any more majors or ending the year number one. Oh yea he choked a another match you guys might want to go back and read my list again:D:lol6:
