Back in 2012, no one worked harder than Nole "down under," going 5 hours in the SF against Murray, then had to play a marathon of 6 (5:53) in the final against Nadal! I'm still trying to recover watching it all from beginning to end and thru the presentation that dragged on! The players were ready to collapse; finally getting chairs! When has that ever happened anywhere? :nono:

It won't ever happen again since the biological passport came in.

Except that in 2015-2016 they were nowhere even close to their best. Nadal was putrid during that period and Federer was years past his prime and not anywhere near his 2017 level.

It's pretty obvious that Djokovic is only ahead in the h2h due to Nadal having an awful 2 year period there and Federer being ancient for years now.
This is such a losers argument. Cherrypicking the times that worked in your disadvantage. You know very well fed got a head start playing baby Novak in his prime for instance. The h2h is an assessment of a very long period they have played each other.

Novak is the better player in this matchup and will likely score some more wins over grandpa viagra, just take it like a man.

the semifinal with "Big" John Isner vs "Big" Kevin Anderson may well go down as the most boring grand slam SF final in 20 years (ie Ivanisevic vs Kraicek sf). I guess there will be minimum of 70 aces served between the players and overall score will feature at least 3 tiebreaks depending on if it goes Five. I tell ya, it's a sad day for tennis that Roger isn't there.

The other semifinal to me will also be a snorefest (for different reasons) as Nadal and Djokovic take too long between points, as great champions as they are. Plus don't be surprised if Novak calls for injury time-outs when it's convenient.

my pick?! Nadal and Anderson to win - a rematch of last year's USO final.

Djokovic is the favorite seeing he did win their last match on grass 2011 final, regardless its been a great event for nadal showing he can challenge for wimbledon even now.

BBC just announced that the roof will be closed for the Nadal-Djokovic match.
That should impact Nadal negatively. The top spin will be considerably lesser and the court conditions slower and less bouncy.

I was afraid of that. That's a drag. I also hate the sound that space makes with the roof closed.

How does that work? If the roof is closed, it means there is less air resistance, meaning that the ball can jump higher. However, if the arena is pressurized after the roof is closed, it becomes plausible that the ball bounces lower due to high pressure.

I get why they are doing it but why can’t they just wait for the rain to come before closing the roof?

That's my question. They closed the roof prophylactically on Nadal in the Rosol match, long time before dark, just figuring it was going to get dark before the end of the 5th. It does take a long time to close that roof and pressurize the space.

And it seems like it won’t rain at all by looking at weather forecast...

Then hopefully they will reverse that decision. The undercard match on now will go at least 4, so there's time to re-access.

Wimbledon roof closing decisions are super weird. For one thing if they close the roof, then the entire match becomes indoors. They don't open the roof, even if it gets sunny outside. They prefer to close the roof before the match starts, even if there is a threat of rain.

I guess they want to utilize the huge investment they did.

I get roof not reopening after it gets close, but closing the roof even if it is not raining or before it gets dark? Now, that’s weird!

Its probably also because of the darkness? This is not going to finish before 9pm local time.

It takes half an hour or longer to close the roof etc. They want to avoid having to do that during the match for sure.

I understand that because you don’t want to ruin the flow of the match but it is still weird on how they decide on things.
