This is the real rivalry! "FEDAL" was a manifestation of commentators looking to make tennis interesting! Nadal owned Federer early and often while it took them waiting for Social Security to not only for Roger to start winning over Nadal, he's been on a streak from AO '17 to now with nary a loss to his bud from Spain! Nadal's still won the majority of contest with Djokovic, but Nole's the only player who's had two "seven win" streaks against Rafa! Nole's still up by 1 so tomorrow is key to keeping this rivalry in his hands up 2-1 in sets today at Wimbledon! :yesyes:  :ptennis:
Lol! no bias there at all!

They are both fantastic rivalries. Hard to say this one is the more significant one. That's just the triumph of quantity over historic significance. Sorry mate

Did both players have to agree to switch it outdoors, because otherwise that’s almost like two different matches..
They don't get a choice about the roof because it's not scheduled to rain tomorrow

He's mostly back, id say about 90% physically and mentally. You can tell he still isn't moving like the old terminator, not after the middle of the 2nd set. I'd say this break is good for both players, I think Nadal needed to regroup mentally and Djoker was showing signs of weariness but gutted it out. But if he was all the way back on an indoor grass court I don't think Nadal would've taken a set.

I agree that Nadal might have dipped after that tiebreaker when the set was on his fingertips; so the Break could help him mentally as it helps Djokovic physically ; oh well I still think either player will have a big advantage on KD.

getting some differing information here. The commentators (including Henman) were saying that both the time and roof have to be agreed by the players. It seems daft to me though

I think they said both would have to agree with switching it. I think it's stupid to switch away from what it started with. Even with rain on the final day like in 2012 I can see the argument for waiting it out and keeping it outdoors and that change to indoors helped Roger. But of course they built the roof and feel obliged to use it.

Different case for early match play where the scheduling is a concern.

The resumption will be played outdoors, which will change things a little. But if Djoke can bring his intensity and focus for the 4th set he can steal the match

The match will resume in the same state that it was played. With the Roof closed. This is what the Guardian reported as the official Wimbledon policy.

British weather is unpredictable at the best of times so we'll see but this heat-wave has dragged on for over a month & we haven't had a drop of rain. (I'm a Northerner of course so can't speak for Southerners but normally the weather down South is better than the weather up North.)

I guess we'll all have to wait & see.

If Nole had lost the 3rd, I'd say he'd want roof closed, but with a cushion and being up 2-1, I venture to guess he'd go with whatever makes him comfortable and depending on the weather! If windy, close that roof; neither have a margin for error if it's gusting in that fishbowl!

^ I can't conceive of any circumstance other than humidity where opening that roof makes sense for Novak

He'd be an idiot to close it. Keep the ball bouncing lower is the most important consideration here. Nadal is playing well, out of his comfort zone at times and he is still down due to that. If this was outdoors I don't think Nole would be winning.

You mean open it. Agreed. Rafa deals much better with weather/wind/sun.

Where there's another day, there's hope. I do think Rafa is still the tougher and will do some problem solving tonight.

Definitely. Typical British weather is normally unpredictable at the best of times but we've had a heat-wave for over a month with not a drop of rain so although I don't want to put the dampeners on things I'd say we're due a drop of rain. (Oops! I've just put myself in the firing line here from any Brits who are enjoying the weather & don't think it's too hot & we need rain.) The grass needs it for a start.

Well I hope he'll be tossing in his sleep with those missed opportunities to win that TB; even a break ahead of that getting up love-30! There were some horrendous groundstroke errors under no pressure! :nono:
