That's the thing see...I GUARANTEE you if Del Potro someone managed to lose this set there's no chance he'd retire.

Well I wouldn't blame him if that happened. You never know, but 2 sets down with a gimpy knee/s forget it

I'm with you brother. If he can wait until this set is over to retire then it doesn't seem serious enough to quit

He can't help himself! He'd rather have a "retirement" or WD behind a loss! No biggie; I just see a pattern over a decade of watching the guy! NO MAS! It's over! I feel like a winner just keeping him out of the final! His record's intact concerning defending a HC title! :rip:

I agree IF it's gimpy but as Mastoor said, how can someone run that fast if they're supposedly injured.

Pity, I hoped for a five hour match between Delpo and Rafa.

Alright. Well that's it. The warrior has to retire. Of course thrilled to not see him get another grand slam this year and gain on Fed. But I just don't have the malice for him that some of you seem to. I would never wish this on him. And while I wanted to see Thiem come through so bad, Rafa pulled it out. You hate to see your grand slam semifinalist have to retire midway through the match.

Ended David Ferrer's grand slam career via retirement at the beginning of this tournament. And ends his own tournament via retirement. A somewhat fitting end.

Now we'll see if he can play at all the rest of the year.

DelPo definitely right that the key to the match was eeking out the first set. Nadal would definitely still be trying to eek out a 3 set win if he won that set. DelPo did what needed to be done. Deserves this week. Deserves this final more than most.

Wouldn't be so sure about that at all. Del Potro has a serious chance here. He knows he may not get many more and I think he may well take it.
