There you go. Closes it out. Battened down the hatches in the tie break and deserved the win going away

Thank fuck. Although it means nothing tbh with this crap court and balls. He could be 2 sets and 5-1 up and still lose on this crap.

Nice. DP seems to be able to overpower Nadal.

I don't know how much Nadal's knees are affecting him this tournament but his play has been crappy. Del Po is not Thiem or Khachanov but he's still got to go out and get his biggest win in 9 years. Not going to be easy

Vamos Delpo, You met the necessary condition. Now, can you sustain and get the job done?

Wow. Won the same amount of points in that opening set and the tennis scoring system just puts Nadal at such a disadvantage. Which I guess is a pointless statement. We're all well aware of the often tragic nature of the tennis scoring system. Thrilled to see DelPo win that one. Lost the first set at Wimbledon 5-7. But, he won the first set here last year 6-4 before Nadal blew him off the court. But, DelPo hasn't been in a 4 hour battle with Thiem this year like last. Nadal has. So should be a completely different story. Winning the first set should at least guarantee him a 5th set loss. But hopefully gets him the 3 or 4 set win.

Thrilling match. I was infuriated that DelPo didn't hold at 5-4. But Nadal's play is so brilliant you can hardly be surprised or all that angry. You just gotta give it to him.

Interesting. Commentators pointing out that in this 2nd set Rafa has changed his return position. He's much closer in now

Don't feed the Nadal tards that line. People here claiming he only lost the sets he did 'cos of his knee, eg against Thiem. His knee is so sore he can then play on for almost 5 hours and win in sweltering heat. Nah, nothing wrong there. Did the same the match before.

It is just so frustrating, but amazing, to watch Nadal win a point like that one there at 30-40 to get to deuce. He has zero business winning that point. His return was barely over the net. Just brilliant speed and defense. Makes the smart play to make that forehand dip to make DelPo struggle with the volley. Oy.

Glad DelPo came through the game though.

Well I'm just saying he's clearly played like shit for whatever reason. These conditions are a dream for him yet he should've been booted out by Khach and Thiem. I'm happy he's stunk, unfortunately he's still in the tournament

Excellent point from Del Po. He has ratcheted up his play.
