What a final! I thought the tennis was really good for a set and a half before Serena got furious.Pity she didn't stay composed, I am quite sure we would watch a real battle to the end.

I am sure many here don't know that Osaka's coach is Serena's first husband, Saša Bajin. That could be one of the things that made Serena too emotional in the final.

I wonder now if Serena putting it out there will have umpires start calling men out on their behavior and issuing penalties. Too bad Kyrgios’ favorite umpire wasn’t there to give her a pep talk . He might have talked her down.

I concur with you but for maybe a bit unexpected reasons.

I don't care much about either player but what I do care about might be somewhat familiar to you: my agenda in my hatred of Court. Court is a classic example of a racist woman. She stands like an eyesore because she made a history in the Australian tennis but with her off court attitude, she'd better not. They named the arena in MEL after her and they regret it now because the name is now controversial, and very justifiably so. It will remain controversial until it is renamed. Evonne Goolagong was put forward as the appropriate tennis woman whose name the arena should bear far more apropriately, and I cannot wait until it happens. I think if Court's record of 24 GSes gets obliterated, said obliteration will help to forget about her, and will make the process of said arena renaming easier. Any player who obliterates said Courts record is my hero, regardless if I like her or not. I don't like Serena very much as I expressed already elsewhere, but obviously I take her far far better than Court.

So, having spelled my reason whom I support, with this little rant above, I should finish: go Serena, and please don't stop here by equaling Court's 24 GCes, the history expects you to take one more step in 2019 and bring your tally to at least 25, and OBLITERATE Court. You can do it!

I ignored the Court record before she came out as such a jerk. Serena and Graf are the best of all time. Court spourt.

Serena was never married to Sascha. He was her hitting partner and close friend. He wanted more of a coaching role, but that wouldn't happen as long as Patrick was still there so she gave him her blessing to move on and he signed up to coach Vika.

There was an interview in a Serbian media with him several years ago in which they said they were married briefly too. That is not yellow press, so I am sure what they said was true.

i cant watch Serena's presser, can someone summarize what she said about the umpire in one sentence :D

She did the strong woman thing. At times blaming sexism. As I knew she would. Stating the double standard for men versus women. However, there is no excuse for the display she put on. Unfortunately, this is the second time she has ruined a USO final victory for her opponent. Thus, my sympathy is far past caring for her whining sniveling behavior. She got her you know what kicked. End of story. She lacks class. Big time.

And we have had 8 different winners of the last 8 slams played - that's why the WTA tour is so interesting

How many more slams does Serena have in her they probably wanted her to win because who knows if this will be her last one
All I know is she birthed a baby and reached 2 slam finals in her return. There are top players who haven't birthed anything and haven't gotten to one final this year (Osta, Mugu, Plisko to name a few).

Missed all the drama... wow.

Man I always miss the Serena drama. I was tying one on early on the Saturday in 2009 and missed seeing that explosion live by a few minutes

I hadn't recognized the guy in any way until you guys brought it to my attention! The net says he was Serena's hitting partner and confidant for 8 years! He worked with Azarenka I guess; now with Osaka! No wonder it may have shook up Serena; there for 10 of 19 major wins at the time of article I read! :yesyes: :p

This one is much more dynamic than the 09 one. She tore this guy a new one and he gave her a game penalty

I've heard, can't wait to see the replay. That crazy bi*ch needs to settle down. She goes crazy in the USO final every time she's there.

It's not every time she's there, it's whenever she's not playing well. If you go back to her wins, there's minimal drama because she's winning. Losing always puts her on edge and so she's a magnet for a dramatic explosion.

It's been a lot in the USO late stages. Kimmy C, Stosur, and now this.

I mentioned that Osaka father is Haitian and that from round 4 she wanted to play Serena. This year early this year her family went to Haiti to that waterfall where they do their voodoo rituals...
I mentioned that earlier on about her playing Serena...this Open stink of voodoo and Osaka said I love you to Serena after her semi like she knew something...
I wish her all the best because she is a sweet girl but some ritual happened..
