When is Caroline's match? And where?
Hope you saw it. Always look at the tournaments homepage - I know it's a bit irritating website but then go in under Match centre. You can't see the exact time but you can see the plan.
https://ausopen.com/

Caroline won the match - not with ease - but there was never any doubt about that - just frustrations against moths, seagul shit, umpire, audience and her racket - so pretty normal. I'll say I've seen better umpires.

Standings in the race for #1 is now:

I saw it and I thought she played okay. My time for the match on Australian and other pages had here earlier. But I'm not complaining. I was hoping the DirecTV channels had her on but they went off the air at 0200. I was happy to see Ostopenko lose.

I could not see Sasha Balin in the box unless he was the guy in the back with a beard. I hope they have not excluded him or fired him. Google tells me nothing.

I got an email saying you had responded to me but I can't find it.

I'll try again a little later today. Here is an exsample of the arguments with the umpire. He didn't react although you could see she was right on tv pictures later - bad umpire generally

Yeah, the umpire almost seemed disinterested in his job. I didn't like him. What do you know about Sasha?

Well this is what I know. Sascha wanted to continue all 2018 more or less as her coach, and Caroline didn't want that, so contract wasn't renewed. Sascha has since been hired by the Japanese player Osaka who is still in the tournament and that seems to be a good choice for him. We can say what we want but it's Caroline's decision. She's also playing less tournaments this year. What she's learned from Sascha we see unfolded in Melbourne: Forehand better, serve better and she's more aggressive. I think she'll retire after this year.

Disappointed but understand it is certainly her decision. I hope she will be able to retire with a slam in her trophy case.

Wow that was fantastic match. I saw only the last ten games. Quite high quality.

What a bad time for toe nail to go away when you have three match points? Otherwise, I think Lauren would have won.

I was expecting to see 100s of posts about that match here. I see none except for the one by BB. What happened to all the folks?

Hope Lauren's career picks off after getting motivated by this match.

p.s. She is sweet too
