There were only six players with a chance to reach #1 at the end of AO. I don't know why you are showing ten rows.
Venus lost to PieronkovaVenus never lost to Svetana in AO. The Pironkova losses came at Wimby. She has lost some AO early rounders to Konta, Maka, CSN and now Belinda. I don't think Venus is really prepared. She normally comes down and plays Auckland which gives her over 2 weeks to get adjusted to the conditions. This year she skipped Auckland and plays Sydney going out in the first round. Not very much prep time to get ready for the first slam of the year.
By the way, the commentators all claim the surface is playing fast this year and they worry about it being a hindrance to defensive players like Woz and Simona.
Venus did lose to Pirru at that time Tsvetana was new on tour..it was a very hot day and Venus was wearing yellow..it was so frustrating match to watch ...that year she went on to win Wimbledon..it must be 2008.Venus never lost to Svetana in AO. Are you talking about that year she retired? She came out and played one game of a match and then told the crowd that she couldn't continue.Venus lost to Pieronkova
