It's incredible that Nadal finished the match with 12 unforced errors considering the fact that he had 8 UE just 4 games into the match. So starting 2-2 in the first set, he only had 4 UE. Stellar performance.

Congrats to Rafa. I have not seen the whole thing but what I saw is enough to say he was unplayable today...What is even more impressive is being able to play like that while Jmac is constantly kissing his ass and Carillo is attached to his you know what, trying to have his baby...That must have been distracting.

This thing with Fedal is "supernatural" and my skin is beginning to crawl a little! Been watching too many movies dealing with making agreements for a "resurgence" and dominance so late in their careers! It's unprecedented; even with what Connors did in '82! "Imma scared; is the Apocalypse upon us?" Season '06 continues to be mirrored in so many ways! :nono: :devilfinger: :demon:

Pretty predictable all the way through this clay season. As soon as I saw Nole's form this year and Rafa playing decent on HC I already penciled him in for this one.

10 is amazing but not as amazing as the 12+ he is going to finish with. There is no one aside from Djokovic to challenge him there for 3 more years at least and who knows if Djokovic ever becomes good again. I hope Roger is watching and ready because I don't think 18 is enough and he has been underachieving at Wimbledon for years, last title being in 2012. Past time for #8 and maybe #9 next year.

I was trying to bump up the thread "Will Rafa pas Roger?". But, could not find it. Must have been lost in the merger process.

That Australian Open victory will prove huge IMO. I don't think Nadal will get past 18, and we're getting carried away a bit, but if he had won that AO final it would have been Roger at 17 and Nadal at 16 now, in which case Nadal was more than likely going to at least tie him.

I still doubt it will happen! Winning the FO doesn't mean Wimbledon grass will also accommodate him and miraculously slow down to keep him from being upset by a specialist! If Nadal had a real brain, he would relish this win and maybe skip the grass season! If he goes thru with it, I don't want to hear any BS about being tired! Roger reasoned it would be better to skip the clay season; let's see if the lightbulb goes off in Rafa's head! :cuckoo: :help: :negative:

The rest of this year is huge because let's face it, the rest of the tour is in a very weak state. Roger and Rafa both have good chances to win at least 1 more slam this season. The other factor for Rafa is RG, he's winning at least 2 more, possibly 3. Hoping Roger stays greedy, and he should. This scenario is why I laugh when commentators and fans question how he stays motivated. It's called a rearview mirror and futuristic thinking. IF Rafa ties or passes his slam count then suddenly his career is maybe half as great as it is if he finishes above Nadal.

You've got to win your last slam somewhere and nobody believes it will be your last when you do it. Not sure if this is Rafa's last, but if I was a Nadal fan I'd be enjoying the moment rather than looking at 18 or 19 majors.

^ Can't fault even the most hated for being greedy and motivated Baron. These guys are opportunistic, Fed and Rafa are both going to keep striking while the iron is red hot.

Assuming he remains healthy, Rafa will be a force at USO. If nobody bothers to send Rafa home in the first week of Wimbledon, then he will be a force there also on worn out grass in his current form.

I don't see Rafa doing well at Wimbledon since he hasn't done well there in forever. Too many dangerous servers/big hitters can take him out, and that's not even counting the good players. I think he's struggled on grass since his knees became sort of shot in 2012 ("shot" is a big exaggeration, obviously). Definitely affected his movement since and he struggles do go down low when he needs to and his movement has looked awkward on that surface for a while now. Not that he was ever fully comfortable but he reached 5 finals in 5 appearances, which is hugely impressive.
