Very impressive serving by Serena. Court looked seriously p1$$ed as did Billie Jean King. Had big doubts Serena would win but grass was always going to be the best surface for her serve if it was on form like today. Good chance she wins the doubles with Venus later to cap off a great day.

I think out of everyone when it comes to the greats Evert and Billie Jean always are in Serena's corner even if it doesn't come across that way. I know Evert can be nitpicky at times about Serena, but I always felt it came from an I want to see you achieve what I know you can achieve place.

Tossip I think you and I have covered this before about Chris E and Serena, we differ here because I distinctly recall Christ has always felt Serena was the greatest of all time and she personally wrote a editors letter to Serena to dedicate the 2nd half of her career to maximize her ability and break all the records.. The good news is Serena won't be making a run on collecting runner's up plates at the slams. The dangerous question lies in will Azarenka compete this hard court season and if so how will she show up and who gets her earlier at the Open if she does.

Azarenka is nursing an injury and goodness knows if she will play the hardcourt swing...Kerber has good hardcourt credentials and many other players that can beat her.

I didn't notice that. I'm surprised BJK is not happy. She's always praised Serena's ability. I'll have to rewind my DVR and watch the ending again when they show the royal box.
