Garbine today looks like she has glue in her tennis shoes, his movement is awful and very erratic shots, unless she would make a big change it's clear that he is going to lose very badly

I'm sorry to see Garbiñe following the model that is not Serena: win big, then fail. Bummer. Radwanska almost went down in a very thrilling match, with a bad ankle roll for the opponent.

Aga can count herself lucky to still be in the tournament, sad for Konjuh who rolled her ankle on a tennis ball, she was the better player and was in a winning position, before the accident.Sad for Bencic who had to retire due to a wrist problem, after getting over her back problem.

WTH is wrong with Serena Williams and these terrible dropshots? Oh, OK, she got a good return in. I guess I can breathe for another minute.

Kuzzy schizophrenic as usual; a 6-1 first set and havoc in the second set.

Kvitova down to Makarova. I need to turn this off.

OK, Serena came through, but dang, Christina played well. She needs to use this level against everybody. That would help with her ranking a ton. Well played, drama throughout.

Yeah brutal matches for both Williams sisters... Venus match was even tighter.

Matches in progress.

Petra losing to Makarova (as above) - 5-7
Sloane Stephens tied at one set apiece and 3-3 in the decider v Minella.
Bacsinszksy also in a final set decider.

They said that it was cold and damp out there; maybe that's what affected play, that and the conditions. Serena slipped several times but Christina didn't that I saw. I'll bet Christina feels horrible. She had Serena today. Those costly mistakes in her last service game allowed Serena to flip the switch back on, but you have to feel bad for Christina...in a way. OTOH, she needs to play like that all the time if she has the capabilities. She needs to use that all the time, not just play Serena tough. At the end of the day it's only one match whether she wins or loses, but if she brings that same intensity (as much as she can) to her daily play, she'd be seeded.

I like Carla. I hope she plays a good match. Sometimes she doesn't play up to her capabilities, but vamos anyway, Carla. She has such a nice game to watch.

She has a beautiful backhand but maybe she is too little to play against those tall and strong girls but her game is a pleasure to watch and her behavior is the best
