Anyone get more than 17 k ?

Edit: I wonder, have the same two players ever met in all four finals of the same same calendar year?
No, Novak reaching 16000 points at some point in the fall last year already was a record. Federer's best 12 month period after the Masters Cup 2006 converted to the current point system would have been 15745.Mile said:Djoker hit 16.950 points. Just 50 more... so Olympics.

For the Olympics and Davis Cup no points will be awarded, so for the rest of the year he can only gain points by winning the Canadian Open, Cincinnati, the World Tour Finals with three wins in the group matches or by adding a 250 or 500 he didn't play last year. With the Canadian Open and Cincinnati so close to the Olympics I doubt he will improve this record.
With the ATP not awarding points for the ITF competitions apart from the majors this year he probably lost his chance to score 17000 points by going out in the quarter finals of Dubai and the 2nd round of Monte Carlo.

Borg didn't play Queens way back when and he won 5 straight with 6 finals! Why change the routine now? :dodgy:

Nah, imagine that's the highest now. The points system doubled in the last decade or so but no one has reached this amount amount I believe.

I actually think this year would be a good idea to play a warm up before Wimby. For the exact reason above...to come down from RG after a win this time around. Getting into the groove of things as opposed to sitting on your bum and basking in your glory. It was different when he lost RGs. After a win, he has to realize maybe even more that life goes on and there is a lot of tennis around the corner. IMHO.
He hasn't played one since 2010 and isn't in the entry list of Halle or Queens this year either, altough it might not be out of the question that he asks for a WC in one of those two (probably if he does he would rather play in Halle as the tournament director expressed great interest in Novak playing there after their contract with Nadal ended in 2014).Sundaymorningguy said:I wonder if Djoker is going to skip warm ups and just go straight into Wimbledon. I read a statement that there is bad blood between the ATP and the ITF because the ITF doesn't want to share the revenue generated at the Olympics, so the ATP decided not to award ranking points, to at least not weaken the ATP events taking place in the same week as or shortly before the Olympics even more.Fiero425 said:-FG- said:No, Novak reaching 16000 points at some point in the fall last year already was a record. OMG, who really cares about this point situation? We're seeing history and no one down the line is going to give one jot to an ATP's points lead years down the line! Nole's already added to and closing in on most records in the book! Who said no points will be awarded for Olympics and DC? Not like I care, but why the change this season or are you aware there is a system in place? uzzled :nono  :dodgy: :cover
