I can’t see Simon getting a set. He doesn’t have the weapons to hurt Novak.

I SWEAR I just opened an older tab and saw this. OK, you saw the match...so what happened? Just the UFEs?

Was fun watching Simon vs Nole. Some hate defensive tennis but on the other side of the same token, super offensive tennis where you only see aces and winners is also quite boring. Ideally we get the right balance of defense and offense but at times, i enjoy watching defense executed like Simon can.

Some call Nadal defensive but compared to Simon, Nadal is very offensive. Rafa is always looking ti produce a winning shot by hitting to corners and being aggressive, especially when ball is left in middle of the court. Simon, on the other hand, deliberately gives the opponents no pace, even when given a ball to attack! For a large portion of the match, Simon was just blocking the ball, hitting to the middle, giving Novak no angles and no pace. His strategy was basically to dare Novak to hit winner after winner and it resulted in 100 UFEs from Nokak, 100!. It was kinda fun watching Novak struggle to hit a winner, he looked really puzzled and frustrated. Novak is an offensive minded player but he also uses defense a lot and what simon did was basically take the defense away and force Novak to win with offense; this is not a bad strategy as Novak's defense is a weapon and Simon took it out of the equation. Whilst Novak is good offensively, his offense is more like Agassi's; i.e., he is not the type that puts the ball away early but rather hits winners by taking ball early and finding open space through controlled aggression. Simon didn't have to worry about explosive forehands and huge serves so he knew he could run down a lot of balls and make Novak miss. Novak sort of fell into a trap because he tried too hit winners too quickly and lost his cool, i think he could've won in 3 if he would've played more defensively and forced simon to do more whilst limiting the UFE count. The attempt of Novak to hit winners impatiently gave Simon 100 UFEs! Simon has a particularly tricky game though because even though he spends a lot of time just blocking balls into middle of the court, when an opponent makes him move, he tends to have sneaky power when on the move and given angles, he can hit winners on the run.

There were a lot of UFEs but fun to watch Novak try to solve a puzzle..

I got Murray, Ferrer, Raonic and Monfils.  I just smell an upset with Raonic for some reason. Ferrer in best of 5 on slow courts will wear Isner down.  The Murray pick is the only easy one though.

How they started I think Kuznetsov may beat Le Monf I know nothing about Kuznetsov.

I cheer for Raonic and Tomic this time and I don’t care who wins between Ferrer and Isner.

I’m going with Muzz, Isner, Raonic, Monfils (though this last one probably will lose in the next round:)

Very much looking forward to Milos playing Stan.
Milos is in a good form, showing a lot more variety in his game: FH, BH slices, moving forward to the net with efficiency looking to end the point with a volley, therefore I am optimistic he will put up a good fight.

Whoznetsov is not in Round of 16 by chance. He definitely plays like top 16.

Whoznetsov is a talent but Monf goes to qf and I fancy his chances there.

Raonic continues playing well, some erros but pretty well. If he wins (I hope he will) next round against Monfils, it's going to be very entertaining

It's incredible what a good serve can help but Wawrinka is working well with the returns

Down to one between Raonic and Wawrinka. Who holds form/nerve?

Terrific win by Raonic. He has a lot to say against his detractors that he's only a big serve.
