I really hope Angie makes a competitive match out of it, even if the chances of winning are minimal.

Serena appears very tight to me.her footwork for example, also her fhand which Angie is attacking,Angie is getting the UFE,all credit to Angie so far,she dosent appear to be nervous at all, given this is her first GS final

Still, it was only a matter of time until Serena got back on serve, I thought.

Serena does seem a little tight. I think she was trying to fire herself up a couple of games ago to snap out of it.

Angelique is getting punished on her second serve but Serena is hitting too many UFEs generally to make her really pay. 4-3 Angie

That said, she's still tight, and gets broken again. And Kerber is very sharp. Playing aggressive, as she knows she needs to. Scratchy from Serena.

I'll have to try and get this online as we're in the middle of a storm on the Gold Coast and the TV pics are a jumbled mess.

Batten down the hatches, bb. Hopefully nothing serious, your storm? Serena has a lot of pressure on her, and she's 34. Classic that underdog Kerber comes out firing on all cylinders first set. I won't count Serena out until the last point, though.

Nothing too serious - just bad enough to mess up my viewing.
Anyway, I'm watching the Sky Sports feed online.

Angie takes the first set! Who'd have thought!

Great defence from Angie and Serena has been as tight as a drum.

Kerber is playing solid, and is keeping it on her racquet, which she needs to do. Serena could run out of time if she's not careful.

Serena seems to have relaxed a little. She was badly overcooking some of her strokes in the first set.

I had computer problems due to extreme thunderstorms in Sydney

All credit to Kerber taking the 1st set against Serena, she is just taking her game like she did against Azarenak, she appears cool, calm, unlike Serena whose serve has gone AWOL,making too many UFE,this match reminds me of the USO s/final in ways.
