Kerber takes it. Disappointed she didn't do it on her serve, but congrats! Well I am sure this will motivate Serena and God help whoever she takes this loss out on.

Wow! Congrats to Kerber.

Serena was very gracious in her loss.

And congrats to Hoergren for being the only one to pick Kerber in 3. Well done, my friend. :clap

Wow, what an impressive victory for Kerber. Thoroughly deserved. Played brilliantly. Tough one for Serena and nice to see the friendly congrats at the end. Kerber definitely needed to break to finish it.

Unforced errors in that first set and third set did Serena in, she definitely needs to pick her aggressive spots better.

Not necessarily. We thought she would unleash that Vinci loss on the next person, but look at how that turned out. This may be just like trying to tie 18. It may take her a few tries to do it

Kerber joins the elite list of GS champions who saved a MP along the way (first round). (Serena has done this 2-3 times, at least.)

2011 once again...hope she recovers because these losses are starting to be concerning...maybe its time for Patrick to go.

So, no calendar-year GS on the women's side ...
No kidding. I'm happy for Kerbie, but no way is she winning another slam this year.

I wouldn't say it was a great final. Kerber played well and there was tension, but Serena left a bit to be desired. The Aussie's got their money's worth though.

Patrick has failed to motivate her in two critical matches...

Patrick doesn't need to go. She just needs to pick her spots better with her aggression and play with more margin when her shots aren't working. Also, she could stand to develop her net game.

You can't blame this on Patrick. He can only give her the plan. She has to execute it and lately, she's allowing the nerves and pressure to hinder her execution. She may need to see sports psychologist. Winning only gets harder as you get older.
