Federer split with Stefan.

My guess is Stefan was done! Roger needs help; esp. thinking he can rally 20-30 strokes with kids today instead of attacking the net! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

From what I read, it was decided at the end of 2014 that Edberg will stay with Roger for just one more year due to time commitments. He could not commit to spend so much time travelling n all. It was pre decided

Tim Smyczek (27) also ties the knot.

So, did Roger poach Ljubicic, or did Raonic get tired with not progressing... :popcorn

That's not yoga. That's Nole and his hammock flipping over. :snicker

Good question, these things (Lj departing from Mi and then joining RF) do not magically happen in a week. There is obviously something going on behind the scenes.

Maybe the appointment is better with Swiss team ??

Look, Milos was progressing actually well, he even reached #4 briefly mid spring, then got injured and everything was a struggle from there on.
It was a frustrating year for both him and his team.
He needs a reset that is all. Why Ljubi will not be part of the reset process we may never know.

Ah injuries, we've seen it with Nadal, we sympathise. :popcorn

So we don't know why or when he parted with Ljubi?

I actually find this appointment of Federer's to be strange. I know he's promiscuous when it comes to firing coaches, but even still, he was doing great with Edberg, and although Stefan had no pedigree as a coach, his appointment made sense, from an historical point of view. I don't see why he chose Ljubicic though...

Ljubicic was an aggressive player and not a grinder so he knows well how to shorten points. Roger does too but any extra info is just gravy at this stage and maybe he could help make his serve even better.

While I personally do not know, I read everywhere that Ljubicic is a great strategist and so will be able to offer lot of good strategies. Also, given that he is a recently retired player, he has direct and personal knowledge of the play of other players still in the circuit.

If Ljubicic can spruce up Fed's baseline game, it would be an advantage for Fed in his matches against Novak. That is exactly where Fed loses to Novak. About 2/3rd or more of baseline points are usually won by Nole. If he can even reduce that to 55% that will be good.

I've read from a good source that Edberg told Federer last year that he will be with him just one more year and even that Federer tried to convince him to stay with him longer, Edberg said not. So probably Ljubicic was the only option and I don't think he did so bad coaching Raonic, it wasn't his fault that this last one is prone to injury :s

Murray discusses how ridiculously slow the courts are. If Fed jumps in, we could see some changes next year :D . He also discussed how to generally shorten matches which I found interesting too.

You can say the same about Lendl and Becker; but it obviously worked out well for Murray and Djokovic respectively! :p  :dodgy: :clap

Roger's been saying the courts are too slow for years and they haven't done anything about it. Sadly, I wouldn't be too hopeful :-/

Rafa to play in Rio Clay ATP 500 in Feb 2016.

So, Rafa's non-mandatory events in 2016 are likely to be the following:

1. Doha 250
2. Rio 500
3. Monte-Carlo 1000
4. Barcelona 500
5. Queens 500
6. Beijing 500
7. Vienna 500

That is actually one more than what can be counted for the rankings. But, if he chooses to miss Tornoto/Cincy (a likely event due to Olympics), then that will also be counted.

I've heard the same "song" for years and he also has won 17 GS for years so those courts haven't been so bad for him
Maybe is not all about the courts but the balls?

When he travels to South America in February, he usually plays more than one event, I would be surprised to see him making the trip only for Rio.

The only balls Fed should be worrying about are his... during the break points :laydownlaughing All jokes aside, this is also a way to speed things up. They will change the balls/courts only when the situation gets so bad that all the pros start complaining, which I honestly don't see happening as much as I want it to.
