Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal are slated to play Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles at the Rio Olympics.:laydownlaughing I doubt this will actually happen for either one of them.

Most probably, Roger will play Singles and Mixed Doubles only. Roger would go there and play even if he is not 100%.

I think Rafa will call it off completely, if he is not physically 100% before that (forgetting the match practice aspect).

Stepanek wants to break Connors's record of winning GS matches after 40. Then retire and coach Kyrgios.

Best news I've read in a long, long time. Be happy to see him on tour a good few more years.

Remember they said the testing would be far stricter at Wimbledon this year thanks to Sharadopa. Anyone read anymore on that?

I always imagined he'd want a job coaching in the WTA... :snicker

Guys, do you know that Shanghai Rolex Masters will be held recently? As I lived in Shanghai right now, I can only watch it. The competition in October! I got Shanghai Rolex Masters tickets from a large website in China, http://en.damai.cn/event/tickets_99260/. If you guys can come along, please tell me in private messages!

Rafa joins Fed and Andy in pulling out of Toronto.

Novak is still slated to play.

p.s. Ferrer and Gasquet are also out of Toronto.

...and we should be shocked? Whoever allowed or ratified this schedule should be shot! An Olympic year with DC, the grueling tour, and other responsibilities; how did they think this would work for the top players? They're already kvetchin' about how tough it is on the tour! We don't hear much out of Nole and he makes all the finals, but others behind the scenes want it cut back; BIG TIME! :nono

Toronto is going to blow this year...too bad. Well, no tickets and no time for me this year anyways.

it was the same in 2012, Toronto should be cancelled every 4 years, it's useless to organize a tourney the week before OG
it's obvious that players prefer OG to a MS

Actually, I thought the ATP came up with a clever schedule to protect the Toronto Masters event this year. Unlike 2012 and 2008, this year Toronto does not directly conflict with the Olympics Tennis Schedule. Yet, it is suffering. :puzzled

Rafa, Richard and Roger's absence is mainly due to injuries or age in Roger's case rather than calendar.

USTA released the entry list for USO today. JMDP is not on it as his ranking is low. It looks like JMDP has already milked enough out of his PR status and cannot use it anymore. Hopefully, USTA will be kind of enough to give a wild-card to a former champion of USO and won't ask him to play qualifying tourney.

Add Tsonga, Simon, RBA, Cuevas and Seppi to the list of quitters. :cover:eyepop
