RE: 2015 WTA Finals

It's pretty tight for Venus. Making the QF's it looks like she's passed Suarez Navarro to move into 10th in the race. To move into 8th (minus Serena) she needs to make the final. Not sure if that's correct but it's what it looks like points wise. It looks like she can move into 9th at least and be the alternate hoping Sharapova or Halep decide not to play because of injury. Let's see!

Kerber and Aga qualify for Singapore by reaching the finals of the events this week. SO, six spots are taken. It looks like they will go to Flavia and Timea (assuming Lucie is not fit to play).

Venus missed the bus by losing to JJ.

If Halep or Maria drops out, Venus will get a chance as she is the first in line.

What non-sense is going on? They are not going to count Luxemborg points, but it appears that they are going to count Moscow points, even though both are in the same week. Highly unfair.

Maybe the tournaments moved their dates and it would screw things up? But does seem odd... I wonder if the players knew about this before they signed on.

And the "funny" thing is that T. Bacsinszky can get extra 279 points if she wins in Luxembourg. Try to add this to her race ranking and she'll end up being no.5 BEFOrE Radwanska. There must be a special bonus to her or WTA really screw up the season. I think one of their excuses (not confirmed but rumoured) is that she (T. Bacsinszky ) can't reach the finals in time. What bullshit.

The reason for T. Bacsinszky can get 279 points is that her 16th result is only 1.

RE: 2015 WTA Finals

Seven have been decided and we're still waiting for the last one to be decided this week. The following have qualified:

Simona Halep
Maria Sharapova
Garbine Muguruza
Petra Kvitova
Agnieszka Radwanska
Angelique Kerber
Flavia Pennetta

As for the remaining spot, it looks like three are still fighting for it; Lucie Safarova, Timea Bacsinszky and Carla Suarez-Navarro. Bacsinszky (Lux) and Safarova (Moscow) have already lost. So if Suarez-Navarro can win a couple more matches, then she will pass them and barely just barely grab the 8th spot. If she loses today or tomorrow, then it looks like Safarova gets the last spot by default.

UPDATE: OK, just checked again and now it's between Safarova and Suarez-Navarro. If CSN gets to the final, she will be No. 8. If she loses before that, then Safarova takes it.

Here's a good wrap-up of the the seven who have made it so far.

Carla Suarez-Navarro lost very badly today and is eliminated. Lucie Safarova takes the final spot!

No doubt. Is there anyone of these eight who is not injured or sick or unmotivated? I would really really like to see Bencic in there but next year I guess.

Of this bunch, I would like to see Kvitova or Kerber take the title.

I am hoping for a Halep Kvitova Kerber or Muguruza win ...the rest are just not my cup of tea.

In which case, I'd be rooting for Halep.

My preference would be a Radwanska/Muguruza final, with Aga winning, but I'd be happy with either outcome.

Unexpected mix in the final 8. How exactly did 1st and 2nd seed end up in the same group?

Looks like highly unbalanced groups. Red is too strong (assuming no injuries).

Interestingly, all GS finalists are playing in WTF except for two, viz., Serena and Vinci.

RE: 2015 WTA Finals

so who will call themselves best player in the world at this event....will sound hollow.I hope someone who at least reached a slam final would be good enough not the running around that Aga and Kerber did...
so who will be player of the year or end of year no.1,,,,Halep or Muguruza
