It looks better to jump all around after a win that to put an idiot face like Roger after a loss :D

Can we just all say that outside of giving your opponent the finger (or other directly rude acts), it's perfectly acceptable for a person who achieved something to celebrate and be happy about themselves! In this one case, Vamos Rafa! That being said, if a rafa fan ever mentions Novak shirt ripping again, I withdraw my solidarity.

At least when it happened in the past, it was the championship match, not an early rounder! :cover  :nono

That just means his dip has made appreciate merely a tough win in his chosen profession. I honestly don't think it's a bad thing (outside of crossing some line into disrespecting your opponent).

LOL Expressions of joy are always nice to see. I guess we all just think Rafa is above celebrating like that over a 2nd round opponent. But there are limits. It's always nice to see a player have some class and be gracious for the loser.

That's all I'm saying! I played for 30 years and never did anything close to celebrating like that after a win in a tournament; even in a final! It's gratuitous and shows up your opponent! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

To be fair, every time any of the top guys get upset, players give huge celebration, and I have never heard anyone on here horrified. Rafa is in a tough spot. He appreciates a tough win. Could he have behaved better? I guess, but don't blow it out of proportion.

Ivo has to be happy that Rafa Nadal has celebrated that win instead to show that he didn't care about it like to say "I knew I went to beat you anyway". And I hope that tomorrow he will do the same, and the next day and the next....it would mean that he is playing well  :p :ras: :popcorn ;)

Thought here is a huge gaping hole and a smaller one with Federer and Ferrer out, there are some great match ups again today.

Gotta go with Murray, Tsonga, Djokovic, Nishikori Wawrinka, Gasquet, Raonic and Simon.

This is a very impressive group; even if I don't need to see them all! I know them well and have seen them play a lot! If you do this with the ladies, I wouldn't know how to pronounce some of their names if you gave me cue cards! ;-)

I am not able to watch any matches due to work.. Just watching scoreboard once in a while.
Karlovic is always a tricky opponent and is even more tricky now given that Rafa is easily breakable.
Hence, Rafa's win over Karlovic is indeed a significant event in his improvement.

If Bird loses his next match and Rafa can take care of Milos, then Rafa becomes #5 in race.

Very possible. Berdych for whatever reason has trouble with Simon. Nadal could have some trouble with Raonic though. The T-1000 version of Karlovic.

Murray drops the 1st set to Isner in a tiebreak but finally breaks and then holds to take the 2nd set 6-4. :clap Come on Murray!

Tsonga also lost the 1st set to Conqueror of Federer Vamos Ramos and is barely hanging on. 5-all in the 2nd.

Don't worry! I've sent Rafa the memo, and he knows now.

"After any victory, regardless of scale or scope, whoever you play and wherever, under no circumstances are you to betray any feelings of joy or satisfaction, regardless of whether you're happy or not. Stop it, Ralphy, seriously! It's upsetting the boys at TF. From now on you must show concern for your opponent, and so when you win, you must immediately react like this: :cry That's all. Good boy, and don't forget to ring your mammy from China."

Murray toughs it out and gets a 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4 win over Isner! :clap

Gets Berdych or Simon next!

It could have been worse. Really! He could have donned a wig (he actually might need one soon) and danced with little kids after his win. :cover

That would never do. :nono

Looks like Mr. Anderson is planning on staying in the Top Ten for a while! Beats Nishikori 7-6(10), 7-6(3)!

Nishikori seems to have peaked. Sadly.

At 29 Kevin is having quite a good year.

People complain and wonder why the courts are being slowed down. I blame the racquet technology and the big servers. Really if the courts were as fast as they used to be, these guys (Raonic, Cilic, Anderson and....), would dominate the hard court season. A whole lot of boom-boom with no rallies would send the fans back to the WTA just like it did before.

It's tentative, and we're not gonna start celebrating like Rafa just won a 500 :snicker but he's starting to pick off the makeweights with some increased sureness and authority. He's eating his way up the foodchain. Too early to be cocky, because he has Stan or Cilic next, but I'm glad to see that mentally he's more focussed and looking less concussed, and physically he's doing fine, and the shots are getting a bit more weight behind them.

He's not "back" but he's better than he's looked any other time this year, I reckon...
