Djokovic lead the H2H 19-8 and he was won the last 8 meetings against Murray. He is 4-0 against Murray this year.

Here's an interesting fact too: In each of last eight meetings, Djokovic has won the first set. So, basically, Murray hasn't had a one set lead over Djokovic since that 2013 Wimbledon final (the last time Murray beat Djokovic).

So for Murray to win, he NEEDS to win the first set against Djokovic or else he will lose a ninth straight time to Djokovic.

For Djokovic, he just needs to do on what he has been doing in the past eight meetings and he will get his 25th Masters 1000 crown.

I personally think Andy might win one against Novak for once, especially since Novak's complaining he has a dodgy arm.

That's the thing though, Front. Even if Djokovic is hurting, Murray can't seem to find a solution or way to beat Djokovic. It is really a mental block for Murray against Djokovic at this point. Yes, Djokovic is a more talented and better player than Murray, but Djokovic shouldn't able to beat Murray eight straight times especially a great talent like Murray.

We will see though...

I picked Andy in two. Hope Nole pulls this out, but from what I saw when he played Gulbis? :nono

More important, if Murray wants to win, he MUST win the last set. ;)

In the four matches they played this year, Murray has won an average of one game in the last set.
The four last set scores were 6-0 (AO) , 6-3 (IW), 6-0 (M), 6-1 (RG).

Based on current form of both the players, Andy should win this. Based on history between the players, Novak should win it. I have no idea who will actually win it. But, I have no doubt who I will be rooting for. Go No1e!

Don't fall for it guys. Djokovic always tells the world something or another is hurting and how he's barely hanging on for dear life but somehow manages to find that extra "mojo" and bagel his opponent. I'm not falling for it and I'm sure Murray is smart enough not to fall for that again. and again. and again. :snicker

Part of the reason Murray is only winning an avg of 1 game on the last set is because he exerts too much energy on catching up to Djokovic in sets 2, 3, and 4.

That's why I think Murray needs to win set 1 so he doesn't exert too much energy to catch up against Djokovic.

I don't think Andy's "going away" has much to do with physical exhaustion. It's been a feature of his game for a while, that in the crunch, where he needs to exert a little more, he goes away. And he goes away suddenly. I don't know what's going to happen today because I don't know the extent of Nole's arm injury. I'd like Andy to win, to make it more interesting at the top again...

Of course I'll be rooting for Murray, but after eight straight losses, it's difficult to predict a win for Andy. He looked good in the semifinal, but Nishikori really played horribly so it's hard to know where Murray's level is at. Interesting that the player who lost in his first match at Washington absolutely clobbered the player who won the event. You just never know about tennis these days. Djokovic has played a lot of tennis this week but that really doesn't mean much. Murray is going to have to try something he hasn't before to have a chance. What that something is, I have no idea. Djokovic in three sets.

Novak says that he is having problems with 'chronic arm injury', he has before but it comes and goes so it means according to him that he always has had that issue and even that he has been able to play well so I don't see anything to worry unless that problem would become worse. I wouldn't call it an injury but a discomfort like most of them have in diferent parts of the body. Injury is a diferent story which makes them without any option to be out of the court for awhile
Muzz lost in the first round (against anyone) of the previous tournament but now I see him playing much better, I think he can win in two

I think we're going to see these two contest finals more and more frequently in the next 18 months or so. So Murray better find a way to win the occasional match otherwise it's going to be predictably boring.

An ATP version of the Serena-Sharapova rivalry. That's all we need. Murray needs to beat Djokovic at least once during Montreal-Cincy-USO. Or there will be about as much excitement as a Serena beatdown of Maria before a final. Ratings will plummet, fans will get restless, forums will go to crap and life as we know it will cease to exist.

Excuse me, but fans and commentators have been giving Maria way too much credit over the years! As much as they call it a rivalry with Serena, they've been dreamin' or seeing things! You have to win sometime to call it a real rivalry; come on! I even stopped identifying Roger and Nadal by that moniker! It's still apropos with the boys more since they at least have some significant wins over Rafa and Nole, including a USO, Wimbledon, and a handful of Masters at least! Maria made a splash by beating Williams at Wimbledon back in '04; too long ago to even make a big deal over now! Sorry! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

Your ability to read something and come away with the exact opposite of what was written is amazing. And the way you just run, run, run with the wrong interpretation is tiresome. Read the posts before you respond. Please.

I haven't saw Muzz so far, what I heard by now and read he has edge.

But in this its mental also, so other type of match. Here The Muzz brakes often.

And I wish people would stop yapping on and on about rivalries that should NOT HAVE EXISTED in the first place, but hey, what can we do about it?

I don't believe anything Novak says about being hurt or injured. He's cried wolf and played possum so many times that he won't get any sympathy from me. That being said, I don't see Andy winning this match. He can be in great form throughout a tournament, then show up to play Novak and forget he's a professional tennis player. Novak in 3 more likely straights.
