Great comeback from Djokovic, after losing the second set, and with the crowd against him.

Let's be real...was the crowd against Novak, or did they want a 3rd set? Which crowds cheer for all the time.
They could have been cheering for Federer, besides cheering for the third set. But whichever it was, it was against Djokovic, because they cheered when he faulted. However, I do understand that the players have to learn to deal with such situations as professionals. Many top players have had to deal with that, including Federer, although less often than others.

They are Fed fans and they wanted a third set. So yes the crowd was against Novak.

All crowds like Roger. You have surely not failed to notice that. It doesn't make them against Novak. Once the 3rd set was on, were they rude to Nole? I didn't detect it.

I hate it when people cheer loudly for double faults. There should be some tennis etiquette there.

What kind of crappy reasoning is that. Just because they kind of lost hope in the third doesn't justify their behaviour or support the claim that they were against Novak. It was clear they were, because they wanted Roger to win. It's as simple as that.

Novak + crowds has always been a potentially lethal combination. He should have fixed it by now, but he hasn't, to his own detriment.

A huge percentage of tennis fans are either pro-Federer or pro-Nadal. Davis Cup-like atmospheres are not uncommon. That's simply the way it is, and the other players have to learn how to cope with it, and not let it affect them negatively.

Nobody is saying Novak should not cope with it, clearly he should and he did eventually.

Good chance he will catch up to him this year. After the 2nd set, Nole's hands were shaking from the nerves. I doubt he was any less nervous, but he did pull it together and upped his level.

It was pretty obvious at the end of the third set Fed wasn't able to keep his focus any longer. With age, those windows of being able to bear down in a match get shorter. It was kinda sad to see him go away like that.

You're missing the point: this should never have been an issue today. It's not like this was the first time Novak ever played Roger, and faced a sea of Federer fans. He's done this literally dozens of times now, yet he's still letting the crowd get to him.

That is true and that is what is bothering me more than the loss.

Yet thoroughly predictable. We've seen Roger deflate, mentally and physically, in many deciding sets over the past few years, which is why it was clear if it went three, Novak would win.

Nope. You're missing the point. You're trying to bring in the fact that Novak was affected. We are talking about the rudeness of the crowd.

... and how it affected Novak, which you even admitted above.

Yes, hopefull too he will. Roger's level is clearly good enough to make these finals, so we should see a couple of more battles between these two.

It's obvious Novak's head-to-head against Fedal will end up being to his advantage.

I 'admitted' that Novak was affected? Are you kidding? Did I also 'admit' that the sky is blue?

This. Denis and I both agree, Novak should be able to handle that... no argument from us there. But to cheer as loud and as long as they did on those double faults, that is Davis Cup type of behavior, and really unacceptable from a supposedly discerning tennis crowd. But they are also the reason Venus and Serena stayed away for many years, so we really shouldn't expect more from the bums.

Yes, but it's a little condescending to call it "sad." Roger put up a good fight against a very on-form Djokovic. I know the likes of DarthFed will tell us that a loss is a loss, but I believe a tough fight is still potentially money in the bank, down the road.
