This is their first official match.

Here's an interesting stat: Murray has never lost to an Australian tennis player.

This is an interesting match because of their contrasting styles.

Although I do think Murray will win this match, I think Kyrgios will make this an entertaining and interesting match. The one thing about Kyrgios is that even though he can be erratic his fiery competitor and relentless energy allows him to compensate those mistakes. However, this is the first time that he will face a player where his serve and powerful ground strokes will be tested.

As for Murray, he is looking great. It looks like that off-season training is truly paying off. The way he moved around last night was spectacular. He looked like the player who won two majors. In addition, he was aggressive and playing first strike tennis. He better continue doing that if he wants to win his first Aussie title. I do worry about his second serve. He left some cupcakes against Dimitrov and he paid for it. He needs to improve that going forward.

Prediction: Murray in four entertaining sets.

Andy Murray felt his Australian Open win over Grigor Dimitrov showed how much he has improved physically,i think we all can see this.

I will give Kyrgios one set in this match,Murray's a genuine Grand Slam contender once more after his back opp.

Murray in 4 or less.

Kyrgios has played a ton of sets here so Murray in 3 most likely. Kyrgios tends to get aggravated playing guys who return his serves well and seeing as Murray is one of the best returners in men's tennis that's one less advantage for Kyrgios. I'd love for him to win but it's about as likely as Oleg MacNoLeg winning the NYC marathon at this stage and eventhough the injuries Kyrgios was carrying coming into the AO appear not to be hampering him, the sheer amount of tennis he's played will catch up with him sooner or later. He's played by far the most of anyone left in the draw and playing a guy who runs down everything and that will get him angry, he'll misfire, start serving double faults and game over.

Thanks for creating the thread/poll, Rafanoy! :)

I agree with Front's analysis, but I'm giving Kyrgios one set based on adrenaline: Murray in 4.

@rafanoy, it isn't actually their first official match as they've played once before. I believe it was in Canada Masters, after Kyrgios had exploded onto the scene in style with his win over Nadal at Wimbledon and Murray had been humbled by Dimitrov in the same tournament. There was a fair amount of hype around the match but in the end Andy taught Nick a hard lesson, winning 6-2, 6-2.

I do like Kyrgios, but I think Andy will be too strong for him here. I wouldn't be surprised for Nick to take a set but I've voted for Murray in straights, though I expect them to be close sets.

Andy must start well because the most dangerous situation is to let Kyrgios claim the opening set or even an early break. This kid has shown what he can do when the momentum is on his side and the crowd is at his back.

Murray is probably too savvy for Nick at this point, especially on this surface. Counter-punching + variety.

Logic says Murray but I'll be rooting for Kyrgios!

Random thought that just crossed my mind: Why is Tennis Frontier's logo of a woman tennis player? Is that a player we know or just a random silhouette of a woman on a tennis ball?

Murray in three - for the same reasons.

Add to that Kyrgios plays a lot on emotion and is bound to have a let down after his match with Seppi

Yeah, Murray in 3. Something like 7-6, 6-4, 7-5 sounds right.

I've been thinking about that as well. Plus, he'll have the added pressure of being the featured night match on Rod Laver Arena. Huge expectations, huge pressure.

We should have a side poll -- Who will talk to himself more: Murray or Kyrgios?

I wonder if the ATP would set up an expletive tracker for this one. :popcorn It's a viable stat for these two and I don't know who would win.

Logic tells me Murray but I've got a nagging feeling this isn't going to be the cakewalk indicated by others. I will go with Murray in 3 or 4, but if Kyrgios gets a good start, serves well and gets the crowd into it then nothing surprises me.

I am saying upset alert. Obviously smart money is on Andy, but I would not be surprised by an upset.
