I agree that murray should be able to work these issues out himself, but he hasn't yet...

Riotbeard, is today your birthday?! In any event:

Wow; bageling each opponent in the semi and final to wrap it up is just monumental IMO! These were 2 guys who work Nole's nerves, but handled both reasonably easy at then end! Murray still needs to be just a little more offensive and Stan may have passed his prime; we'll see later in the season! Andy didn't seem to care for that ending; no hug or commiserating going on at the net this time!

Congrats to Novak and his fans. He was the more stable player when it mattered. I am amazed there was another bagel set this deep in a slam, especially between these two.

I was not generally impressed at the level of tennis. Way too many breaks. Murray's second serve is continuing to be an issue and I am starting to lose hope that it will ever get better. Maybe it is just what it is.

Novak is rock solid mentally when he needs to be. Sure he loses the plot here and there, but not like the Novak of 5-6 years ago.

One more thing about Nole that amazes me. To me , it looks like he times his energy so that by the time he finishes a finale, he has nothing left in the tank. I feel it is almost like if he had to play an eight match here, he would be triple bagelled. Probably not but I love the way he uses his energy.

Kudos to both for a good 2 weeks.

The most telling factor for Murray in this match was

1. Murray only converted 5/12 Break Points

2. Murray only won 14/41 2nd serve points which is 34%.

Didn't stay up last night to watch it live. But, just finished seeing the rerun (live for me,
as I did not know anything as to what happened) shown on ESPN starting at 9 a.m.

Congrats to Novak! He now truly owns the AO.

The match was not particularly exciting as expected though. Murray overcooked a lot of
shots from winning positions (apart from having weak second serve which looked like it
improved this AO). On a positive note, at least I did not see Andy grabbing any body parts
in the whole match.

Besides all those break points, Murray had a lot of 2nd serves to jump on and he still wound up being routed! How is that possible when his fans keep giving him all this elite 'ability and skill?' As I said, Murray is not and will never be part of the elite top 3 without one of them injured or not playing that well! IMO, he's overachieved to get his Wimbledon, USO, and Olympic Gold! He and his fans should be perfectly satisfied with what he's accomplished! :clap  :dodgy:

^ Well I am not a fan of Murray by any means, still I thought going into the final he would have done a bit better, going on his previous s/final match against Tomas.Finals are a different kettle of fish,I knew the h2h going into the final, still to me it is all about 'who turns up on the day'.

5/12 is actually pretty solid percentage wise but there were a couple bad misses on a few of them during the 1st set that could have helped him pull it off.

Totally right about the 2nd serve and it wasn't just for Murray. Nole won about 60% of his 2nd serve points, very high given Murray's ROS.

Some people just don't like Murray @tall,i think you one of them, that's fair enough on your point of view.Murray's won Wimbledon, USO, and Olympic Gold, been in 8 Slam Finals.AO is looking like a lock for Nole,Stan beat him maybe like R/S beat Nadal. After Murrray's back Opp i think he should be given some time before being to hard on how he does.I bet Nole or any other tennis player would take just as long to get there game back.:cover

The commentators were about to blast Nole if he lost this final taking him below .500! Andy's record is nowhere near as good and you're ready to throw accolades to him for his effort and excuses for not closing the deal! :nono :puzzled  :dodgy: :cover

What is Murray, 2-8 in slam finals?? No need to hate on the guy. He's already hating on himself

It's not hatin' as much as not caring for his style; same with Nadal! It's just plain "UGLY" tennis in my book! Both could be doing so much more and winning easier rather than having "wars" that last 3-5 hours! Nole blows leads, but at least he's finishing very strong these days! :dodgy:

Amazing how we used to think 8 majors was "so many" titles to own! With Nadal and Federer's record, it's just not "half bad!" How times have changed! :nono  :dodgy:

In no way did I mean you were hating on Murray Fiero. Otherwise where would that leave me?? :cover

Was just mulling over the thought that if I had had the opportunity to reach 8 slam finals and had a winning percentage of 20%, that I'd be hating on myself. Murray definitely didn't look very happy either.

In fairness to Murray, he is facing some pretty serious opposition. He's just not at the same level. Still reaching those finals is an accomplishment in itself, like a second round would be to Potito Starace.

2nd place suits him well though.
