Who's he got early doors?

EDIT: thanks Rafanoy! If he gets through Youzhney, it'll be a great start.

Any great standout matches in round one?

Dimitrov vs. Dustin Brown. There's gonna be a lot of shot making there

Delpo vs. Jerzy in the first round.
Add to this list:
Theim/RBA
Querrey/Popsicle
Nico/Nishi
Delbonis/Kyrgios

It's too bad guys like Thiem and Bautista-Agut, and Delbonis and Kyrgios have to meet in the first round. They both need experience in GSs, yet two will get knocked out immediately.

Beautiful. Just Beautiful :cover Roger has never beaten that Spanish jerk in three matches at the AO is now seeded to play him in a sf.

Yep, if -- if -- Rafa gets that far, it will be the end of Roger's AO.

Quarterfinals:

Djokovic/Raonic
Wawrinka/Nishikori
Nadal/Berdych
Federer/Murray

Of the 8 potential QF match-ups. Murray is very vulnerable. I think he won't get past the first week and is the most likely to be upset . Djokovic vs Raonic and Nadal vs Berdych are going to be huge matches.

If Roger and Nadal are ranked #2 and #3 respectivelly then howcome they should be seeded to meet in one GS SF. That's just wrong. It should always be #1 vs #3 Top half and #2 vs #4 Bottom

I am not too confident with Nick's chances, his back isnt 100% and he picked up a left knee injury in his match at Apia,Sydney. He was having 3 physio sessions a day just to play Sydney,I felt he should have skipped Sydney and just focus on Melbourne.

No, No. 1 is always at the top of the top half of the draw, and No. 2 is always at the bottom of the bottom half. No. 3 & 4 are then randomly assigned so that one goes into the top, and the other into the bottom.

That's not how the draw works T. 1 and 2 on opposite sides, then they draw 3 and that one goes wherever it was drawn and 4 would go on the opposite side.

I respectfully disagree. No's 3 and 4 should not be 'randomly assigned'. The ITF should change that.

Its all just speculation if a few of the seeds get upset.. then the draws are not so difficult, No!

You can respectfully disagree, but that's not going to change how the draw works. :nono

I can't see Nadal losing before the Final...unless... the courts are playing faster this year. Ideally the AO organisers should make the surface play fast for a change.

I know, LOL. Take it easy, it's all fun. We can argue about this 'till the cows come home

Hey, the more I think of it. Federer's best chance to win their SF is if Nadal is embroiled in long gruelling matches in the first week.

The courts do play faster at the AO when the weather is hot,the balls fly through the air more.Of course if the temp is cooler in the night it is not as fast. The bounce is high,a true bounce.Rafa has won 2USO titles where the surface plays faster than the AO by the way.Plexicushion is rated as a slow to med surface.

We'll get an indication in the first week of the championships if the court surfaces are playing fast this year.
