Have to keep reminding myself - there's a US Open final later on today... :cover

We knew it was going to be played today at 5pm regardless of who made it.:puzzled

True, and I think it has the potential to be a great match, but I can't help feeling it's a slight anti-climax. And I accept that this is hypocritical, given that nobody has moaned more about the lack of spine among the field than me. Well, here we have two who stood up to be counted...

You and Fiero, you 2 always whine about lack of guts among other players. Now you are proved wrong.

I think it will be a great match. Two guys on a mission, playing their best tennis and tournament ever. It might be disappointing for Nole and Federer fans, but these guys deserve to be in the final. Who knows when they will get another opportunity like this.;)

Thanks to Monday Night Phootball!
Actually, phootball or not, I'm guessing the TV ratings phor this match won't be good, regardless of the time slot. Two unknowns in the phinal can't be good phor ratings. Will anyone besides die-hard tennis phans watch this one?

Well, we're not proved wrong. This only highlights what can be done. Why it hasn't become more regular is one for opinion, as much as anything else, but the timing was right in this event too, with Nole not so strong on the summer hards, and Roger getting on...

Well, we will see, won't we?:) Tennis is always watched by mostly tennis fans, I thought.

Aren't you a fan of matches between two equal opponents, even though they might be lower ranked?

Besides I thought Seattle already won? I remember seeing the pre-game show in my hotel room before leaving for dinner, just can't remember which night.

Don't get me wrong. I'm dephinitely gonna be watching this match! I just think that many more persons who aren't die-hard tennis phans would watch iph Phederer and/or Djokovic were playing.
I'm not worried about phootball tonight. Seattle played on Thursday. What worries me is that the Blue Jays play (the Cubs) on TV at 7pm. I don't care how bad they suck. Where I live, I have to take advantage of every televised Jays game that I can. :D

^I wouldn't be worried Chewy. Whatever the level of suckiness, they'll still win over the Cubs. :snigger

I told you that you lived in the wrong country my darling.:lolz:

Naturally people who are not the biggest tennis fans are not going to tune in, but maybe some will be interested in seeing players who knocked out the two tennis stars. I don't work for CBS so I really don't care about the ratings as long as they televise the match live, I am fine.;)

Tennis should be over before MNF (Monday Night Football) begins.

I think it should be a good match, Cilic hitting huge but Nishikori moves and returns so well and is surprisingly not too easy to overpower.

All depends Darth. After all the hoopla (anthem, coin toss & such) it won't start until about 5:20 EST. MNF is starting at 7:10pm EST.

I am rooting for Kei to win this one. This is not because of any bitterness over Cilic screwing up
Fed's #18 or even the drug stuff. I think Kei's game is more versatile than Cilic's. This going for
the lines at 100 mph on every mild chance will be unsustainable in the long run. That is all
Cilic has got (great serve, coupled with flat winners going for the lines) although he executed
it for the full three sets in the semifinals beautifully.

To begin with I suspect Kei would have better read on Cilic's serves and put more balls
on play. Also, the longer the rally goes, I would favor Kei to win that point.

Ah, figured it started at 8 Eastern? In that case, the match will likely still be going on.

Give up football for one week guys. You have plenty of weeks to watch football after
today.

Exactly, it is just one game. I don't even know who is playing.

This is your chance to prove you are tennis fans and not just fans of one particular player.:D

^ I will be watching tennis. No need to watch the Lion Cubs and 4 picks from the lesser Manning bro.

I guess the stats would say that Eli is the lesser of the Manning bros but he has a better track record in the Super Bowl.

SB wins aren't everything when judging a QB though. But anyways let's not get off topic.

Yes, I agree. That is why you should consider Peyton Manning got thrashed by my
alma meter Nebraska in College Football Championship game.

The issue phor me isn't that the tennis match may run over into the phootball game. My issue is that the tennis match starts at phive on a weekday. Most regular Pholks don't even get ophph work until phive.
